
Last night, Glamour Magazine honored the 2014 Women of the Year: Lupita Nyong'o, Sarah Burton, Chelsea Clinton, Laverne Cox, Mindy Kaling, Samantha Power, Robin Roberts, Natalia Vodianova, Sylvia Earle, and The Bravest Girls in the World. The gala took place at Carnegie Hall in New York City and included a performance by Haim as well as words from each honoree and celebrity presenters. Glamour honored Lupita as "The Breakthrough" Woman of the Year for her achievements as an actress. This includes her Academy Award win for 12 Years a Slave and her new roles in The Jungle Book and Star Wars: Episode VII. Lupita also became the new face of Lancome's and landed the cover of People's Most Beautiful issue.

Laverne Cox

Glamour honored Laverne as "The Advocate" Woman of the Year. Laverne utilized her breakthrough, transgender role on Orange is the New Black to educate the world, welcome the transgender community, and fight for both gay rights and marriage equality.

Mindy Kaling
"Why not me?"
Mindy is this year's "Lady Boss," honored for her work as a comedian on The Mindy Project, a writer for the hit show The Office, and the author of Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns). Mindy tells Glamour, "It's my responsibility to try to encourage groups that don't get represented."

Robin Roberts

Robin Roberts is this year's "Survivor," fighting both breast cancer and myelodysplastic syndrome (and winning!). Robin is also an anchor on Good Morning America and has started a new production company.

Chelsea Clinton

Chelsea Clinton is honored as "The Women's Champion" for her work at the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation. There, among other successes, Clinton has worked to lower the cost of diarrhea treatments, a cause that could save the lives of 170,000 children by 2015. Chelsea also leads No Ceilings: The Full Participation Project.

Sylvia Earle

Sylvia, Glamour's "Explorer" of the year, is a legendary oceanographer who has discovered tens of thousands of species while embarking on over 100 explorations. Sylvia also stands up against over-fishing and pollution. Her foundation, Mission Blue, aims to protect the ocean, because, as Sylvia tells Glamour, the ocean "is the heart of our planet that keeps us alive."

Natalia Vodianova

Natalia Vodianova is recognized as "The Voice for Children," honoring her efforts as founder of the Naked Heart Foundation. The organization has built over 100 parks and playgrounds, summer camps, and more, in order to help and provide for special needs children.
