*Spoiler alert: Don't read ahead if you haven't finished season 3. Seriously, we warned you. We've been waiting ten long months for Homeland to return. Ten months is basically an eternity in TV world, and it's finally here!
We've had some recovery time to move on from Brody's shocking death, but waiting ten freaking months for Carrie Mathison and Saul to come back into our lives has been grueling. We don't know too much about the season yet except that Carrie had her baby and there's a 95 percent chance she's going to be a terrible mother. (No, seriously, even in the preview she’s leaving the baby and getting yelled at for being a s*itty mom.)
The whole season is supposed to take place between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and Carrie is back on the terrorist trail. Between taking care of Brody's child (it's definitely his, it might as well be his twin) and her new assignment in Pakistan, we can only assume that there will be lots and lots of pill popping this season. We just hope that there's a substantial amount of Mandy Patinkin time as possible. Seriously, Saul is the best. To prepare you for the premiere on Sunday, here are 15 things you may not have known about Homeland and its cast.
1. The opening credits have a secret.
Some of the pictures in the opening credits are actual pictures of Claire Danes as a kid.
2. Mandy Patinkin's favorite role is iconic!
He has said in the past that his favorite role was playing Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride. As it should be, because it is the best.
4. Claire Danes is scandalous.
Before she fought terrorists, Danes was an infamous Hollywood home wrecker. She broke up Billy Crudup and Mary-Louise Parker when Parker was eight months pregnant. Yikes.
5. She prepared for the role.
Claire Danes met with CIA officers and studied bi-polar disorder to prepare for the Carrie Mathison role.
6. Homeland is based on another show.
The Showtime drama is based off of an Israeli drama called Hatufim. Hatufim is Hebrew for "abducted" or "kidnapped."
7. Morena Baccarin wasn't the original Mrs. Brody.
Laura Fraser played Jessica in the pilot before the show aired.
8. Claire Danes decided Carrie's diagnoses.
She told the Entertainment Weekly that she decided Carrie has Bipolar 1.
11. Carrie Mathison was a NCAA athlete runner.
According to Andrew Kaplan's Homeland prequel, Homeland: Carrie's Run, she was a runner in high school and college.
12. Morena Baccarin and Claire Danes go way back.
In an interview Baccarin revealed that her and Danes went to the same middle school and were in the same homeroom class.
13. Damian Lewis didn't have to audition.
The creators were impressed with one of his earlier movies and offered him the role without a proper audition.
