The Real Reason Lydia McLaughlin's Leaving 'Real Housewives'

Parenting: Why Lydia McLaughlin's Leaving 'Real Housewives'

Exclusive: The (former!) Orange County 'Wife may have a big announcement soon.

Last week, Lydia McLaughlin dropped a Bravo bomb when she announced her plans to leave The Real Housewives of Orange County after her freshman season.

Since then, Lydia tells us that Gretchen Rossi and Alexis Bellino—both also rumored to be parting ways with the original Housewives franchise—have reached out to offer their support. "I will miss the crew the most. Alexis and Gretchen and I still talk [to], so I won't miss them because we still hang out."

So why her sudden departure after only one drama-filled reunion with referee Andy Cohen? Well, as Lydia explains to YourTango, "'The plans are mans, the odds are Gods.' That being said, we want a baby GIRL. Going to start trying soon."

Lydia married Doug McLaughlin, with whom she founded Beverly Hills Lifestyle magazine, seven years ago and today the couple is proud parents to sons Stirling, 4, and Maverick, 2.

So what if baby #3 is another little bundle of blue joy? Will Lydia continue to expand her Southern California brood? "Don't jinx me—we would like a girl. That's what I'm focusing on," she teases.

And how about a return to RHOC in the future? "Anything is possible!" Lydia notes, adding that she's leaving the show on "really good terms" with Mr. Bravo Andy Cohen. "You never know what opportunities are ahead!"
