5 Things We Learned About Online Dating In 2012

Online Dating in 2012

Let's take a look at what we discovered about digital dating this year.

4. Photos Should Be Casual And Current
No need to schedule a photo shoot for your profile picture; both men and women prefer candid photos, according to the Chemistry.com survey. Guys also prefer full-body shots (of course they do). Additionally, both sexes want photos to be current; it turns out both genders tend to use old photos to appear younger to potential paramours. And hey, sometimes we just look better with a tan.

5. Online Dating Is The Second-Most Popular Way For Couples To Meet
With 1 in 5 couples meeting on the web nowadays, online dating is surpassing other forms of matchmaking. Scientists at the University of Rochester reported this year that couples meeting through mutual friends is the only method more popular than meeting online. According to Match.com's Singles in America survey, more people met the last person they dated through an online dating site than anywhere else. In fact, seven times as many singles met their last date on the internet, compared to being set up by a relative this year. May want to keep this statistic handy when Aunt Lisa tries to set you up with her neighbor again.
