In honor of Nora Ephron's life, we celebrate her classic, 1980s romantic comedy.

This friendship undoubtedly brings the pair closer together. They learn to respect and rely on each other, offering an oft-overlooked lesson about the importance of friendship as a foundation for romantic relationships. Emily Blunt & Alison Brie On Love, Exes And ... Passing Gas?

3. Patience is a virtue. Harry and Sally first meet in 1977. Some 10 years later, they eventually find love in each other's arms, but not before experiencing a whole lot of life and a whole lot of heartache.

The years before they end up together romantically mold Harry and Sally into the well-rounded, emotionally adjusted people they become by the end of the film, thereby implying the significance of patience. In this day and age, it seems we all expect to go online, meet the man of our dreams, fall in love and live happily ever after — all in a heartbeat. But don't rush it. According to the movie, we should all take a collective deep breath and trust that our Prince Charmings will come along when the timing is right.

4. Never underestimate a woman's ability to "fake it." Who could forget the famous scene at Katz's Deli in which Harry claims he can tell if a woman is faking an orgasm, and Sally — shall we say — proves him wrong? Obviously, the lesson here is for the fellas: When it comes to sexual satisfaction, don't believe everything you see.

5. Laughter is the best medicine. "Waiter, there is too much pepper on my paprikash," says Harry to Sally nonsensically in a ridiculous accent at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, declaring that the two of them are going to speak with that same ridiculous accent "for the rest of the day." Aside from being a memorably hilarious scene, it reminds us that we should all lighten up a little, have a laugh, and be silly with the ones we love. After all, if Nora Ephron's unfortunate passing can teach us anything, it's how precious our time together really is.
