Married to Him: One Couple's Story

Journey with one couple as they navigate marriage's murky waters! The cheating epidemic hit home.

Leaving wasn't as easy as I thought it was. I really didn't want to move back home with my parents especially since I had a baby. But I had to put some sort of plan into action and quick. He was due home in a couple days. He called maybe twice since he left and each time he started an argument. He began making these wild accusations of things I wouldn't even dream of doing. My heart ached even more! He was putting on a show in front of this woman. I took this personal because I am his wife and I should be the most important person in his life. Not some flousy!

I had grown addicted to going through his things. It never failed that everytime I looked I found just what I was looking for. This time it didn't hurt. I wasn't even the least bit surprised. I found all sorts of things. You name it, I found it.  At this point I wouldn't have been the least bit surprised if he had a another child somewhere. I gathered all my evidence, took pictures of clothing, and called a divorce lawyer. I've had enough. The bad part of all of this was that on top of these cheating issues his check routinely came up short. I was doing everything. Hell, I can do bad all by myself. The divorce lawyer was graciousness enough to start the process while I gathered the retainer. There were several emails between us both and the petition for dissolution of marriage was filed by the time he got back home.

This day was like every other day. I went to work, got off work, picked the baby up, and headed home. When I turned into the cul-de-sac I saw his truck parked in the driveway. I exhaled a deep breath "He's home" I said aloud to no one. I pulled in the driveway and the garage door was open. It was a nice warm Spring day so he had the front door open too. He was fiddling with the lawmower on the side of the garage. I entered the house without saying a word. I got the baby settled and we went upstairs to my room. The contents of his suitcases were strewn across the bed and on the floor. I took another deep breath. Here we go, I thought to myself. At that moment the house phone rang. I went to nightstand and picked the phone up off the base. I looked at the caller ID.

'Private, humph' I said as I mentally prepared myself for a fight 'hello'.

Ummm, yea, Sen this is Christy and I just wanted to talk to you for a minute about Spank

I went on the cruise with him and his boys. His friend just dropped me off. He told me about how he left you at home cryin cause you found out bout the cruise. I  been messing around with him long before you came into the picture. The only reason I'm calling you now and letting you know this is because he pissed me off on the cruise. There was another chick there that he paid to go on the cruise too. He paid for me and her. He was mad because she was paying me more attention than him.  I have pictures to prove everthing. He lost his wedding ring riding on the jetskis. He didn't even tell me he was married until one day when I came up here to visit. He paid for my plane ticket using his boys credit card. I had to stay with his other friend who slipped up and told me he got married. Everytime I was around him he took his ring off. I confronted him at his boys house and he fessed up. Hell, I'm in a relationship too. I've been to your house before. I smoke Newports and he wouldn't let me smoke in the house so I had to smoke by the back door by the laundry room. You'll see all my butts on the ground. He told me you never cook so I came over a couple times while you were at work and cooked and cleaned up the kitchen. You keep all your pots in  the cabinet to the right of the stove. I've never seen your son but his room has little circus animals on the wall. You have a bunch of personal papers in the bottom frawer of the nightstand and other personal stuff in the top drawer. He tried to use some of your stuff with me but I didn't do it. I've slept in your bed and (expletive) him in your bed. H---'

'Hold on' I said interrupting her as I walked outside looking for him. He was riding on the lawnmower cutting the grass. I waved my hand to get his attention and held up the phone. He turned off the lawnmower and waited until I reached him.

Who that?

I turned the speakerphone on 'Hello'

Yea, I'm still here

I have you on speaker, tell him what you just told me

As she began talking he looked over at me in complete disbelief and snatched the phone out my hand and turned the speakerphone off.
