Celine Dion Pregnant But Not (Exactly) By Husband

Forty-one-year-old Canadian singer Celine Dion is expecting her second child, according to People.com and Hollywood Life.

Celine and her husband Rene Angelil, whom we calculate to be 67 years old, found out Monday that after in vitro fertilization treatments at New York City's Ronald O. Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center for Reproductive Medicine at New York-Presbyerian Hospital/Weill Cornell Center Medical Center. The center is where their first child, 8-year-old Rene Charles, was conceived—also by in vitro. YourTango: Desperate To Have A Baby, We Tried Everything

Celine's doctor, Dr. Zev Rosenwaks, says she is "very early" in the pregnancy. According to Yahoo! OMG and the Associated Press, having a second child was always Celine's dream, so she and husband Rene froze embryos around the time baby Rene was conceived. Rosenwaks says the egg was frozen in liquid nitrogen for eight years. (It may sound like a risk to leave a potential life frozen for that long, but Rosenwaks says embryos can stay good and thaw successfully after 10 to 15 years or even more.)

People.com reports that after Celine's performance run in Las Vegas ended in 2007, she went to her doctor to see if conceiving another baby could be possible. With Monday's pregnancy news, Dr. Rosenwaks says Celine and Rene are "ecstatic" and "looking forward to a pregnancy that is a healthy one." The baby is expected to arrive in May.
