Finances have been a thorny issue, with Kelis charging that Nas wasn't paying for pregnancy expenses and seeking more money from him. Nas contends he already paid more than $30,000 for pregnancy matters. Another hearing is scheduled for Sept. 8 to see if the payments need to be altered.

Originally, Nas offered to pay Kelis $20,000 in a lump sum until a hearing could be held to determine how much he should be paying for spousal and child support. However, Kelis rejected that offer, arguing that she needed more to support her lifestyle and that more was warranted according to income declarations submitted to the court.

According to Kelis's attorney, the signer is in the midst of looking a record deal and her earnings have dropped in the recent months.

Nas launched onto the music scene way back in 1994 with the release of Illmatic. He has since released nine other studio albums, including 1999's Nastradamus and an untitled album in 2008. It's been confirmed that he was working with reggage signer Damian Marley and a new album this upcoming fall.

Kelis's debut came in 1999 with the album Kaleidoscope. However it wasn't until 2003's Tasty, with the single "Milkshake" that Kelis found mainstream success in the U.S. Her latest release was a greatest hits album, released in 2008.
