Madonna Adoption Denied

The Malawi courts decline her petition to adopt another baby from the country.

Sad news in Madonna’s world today: the Malawi courts denied her petition to adopt a second child from the country, orphan Mercy James, 3. The courts denied the adoption citing the Malawian adoption rule that the petitioner must be a resident of the country for 18-24 months to be eligible to adopt, the same stipulation that was waived for the adoption of her son, David, 3.

As a closed-door hearing, the judge stated, “I must have to decline to grant the application to Madonna. By removing the very safeguard that is supposed to protect our children, the courts by their pronouncements could actually facilitate trafficking of children by some unscrupulous individuals who would take advantage of the weakness of the law of the land.”

It’s unknown whether Madonna’s divorce from Guy Ritchie or her relationships with Yankees baseball star Alex Rodriguez and model Jesus Luz really factored into the decision but whatever the case may be, we’re sure that Madonna is upset about the denial of the petition. The media circus around the adoption can now end. To quote Madonna’s own lyrics, “This show is over/Say goodbye.”
