Janet Jackson & Jermaine Dupri: Over?

Buzz, Heartbreak

It looks like Jermaine Dupri and Janet Jackson are on a break.

"I don't like it if it don't gleam clean and to hell with the price cause the money ain't a thing." According to Bossip, Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri have called it quits. Word on the street is that she was not really happy with his attempts to manage her career and the 2 have decided to spend some time apart. Per Bossip, much of the intel on this development comes from the National Enquirer so please swallow your requisite grain-of-salt. But, for some goofy reason, we sort of believe this one.

Even though we went hook, line and sinker for rumor a few weeks ago that Janet was on the baby express, we've always been a little skeptical of this relationship. We admired Jermaine Dupri's temerity in chopping down this fine member of R&B royalty but always thought of it more as a conquest than a full-time deal. And 4 years later they were still truckin'. But, in the meantime, it looks like JD's career has slowed (we can't think of him doing much since "Money Ain't A Thang" with Jay-Z) and Janet keeps making moves (yes, her name made her famous but her talent made her an ICON!). It remains to be seen how this will play out.

We have a theory that, though Dupri is 4 years junior, she's looking to follow Mariah Carey's lead and find herself a young man. At this point, we're not sure who the possible candidates would be but we're going to throw Bow Wow's hat in the ring. He was good on Entourage and has some measure of hip-hop credibility. Option 2 would be Channing Tatum, that boy can dance. Too bad Justin Timberlake has his hands full, they had some real chemistry right up until that wardrobe malfunction.

You ever notice how when people previously associated with Jay-Z try to go it alone, it doesn't work so great? We haven't heard 'boo' from UGK since "Big Pimpin'" and Damon Dash seems to have gone off the deep end since they split. Any thoughts on a hook-up for Janet? Do you think she and JD can salvage it? We hope so, they're a cute, tiny couple.
