Kenny Chesney Uses Divorce On Album

His 4-month marriage to Renee Zellweger fuels Lucky Old Sun.

According to Us Weekly, Kenny Chesney is doing what any good country star does, exploring his pain through song. A lot of times a guy will lose his wife, his dog, his job, and/ or his fishing pole and turn to the country music medium for solace. And brown liquor.

At any rate, Chesney's new record, Lucky Old Sun, proved cathartic in his breakup from Renee Zellweger. He tells Us, "I already wrote those songs. I'm on to something else." Good attitude. His marriage to Renee Zellweger lasted roughly 4 months. There were some irreconcilable differences, it appears. Someone was a little too country, someone else was a little too rock n' roll.

In addition to his quickie marriage/divorce, Chesney's popularity and tour expectations were really hitting critical mass and he was at wit’s end. So, he took a trip to the Caribbean on the solo tip and started writing the album. He banged out "Nowhere to Go, Nowhere to Be" (we've all been in that place) and really let the emotions flow. He still keeps in touch with Zellweger and isn’t sure what she'll think of the new record. Good effort, cowboy. It feels like the genre was missing an Alanis Morissette.

It's too bad that VH1 has veered away from Story Tellers. This might be a good one. Enjoy Will Ferrell as Neil Diamond on Story Tellers:
