About Jan Hempstead

My career as a registered nurse provided me the opportunity to work in a trauma center, as a case manager and a nurse manager . I loved caring for patients, seeing them heal from their wounds, injuries and illnesses. My favorite part of the job was the positive impact I had on each patient's health by teaching and guidance. Providing care for patients in their 40's and 50's who had suffered devastating effects of a stroke, heart attack or diabetes convinced me to focus my efforts on helping to prevent these debilitating diseases.

This led me to a path of health coaching through The Circle of Life and then advanced coach training through CoachVille, the Center for Coaching Mastery. It was a natural progression, since I had been studying health and nutrition for many years and had practiced a healthy lifestyle personally.

In my early 20's, when my children were small, I fed them natural, whole foods, ran 3 miles a day and practiced stress reduction techniques. As I moved into my 50's, my pursuit of health continued to expand, as I began to enjoy practices of meditation, massage, schiatsu, acupuncture, yoga, breath work and eating organic and whole foods.

But, I too, know the struggle of weight, despite my healthy lifestyle. In my earlier years, I was an emotional eater, eating when upset, sad or anxious. Until I understood the process and how to manage it, without diets, my weight went up and down, even while I ran and ate mostly healthy food.

I now combine my traditional medical knowledge with complementary and alternative medicine and my clients' own inner strengths. This led to the development of programs for healthy eating/weight management and stress management.

I provide one-on-one coaching, group programs, tele-classes and a health newsletter.
