Pressure on pre-teen girls is worse than ever and this disturbing You Tube trend is shocking to see.
I saw an article on Huffington Post this morning that made me cringe. I was so stunned, I had to write a post immediately.
According to to one NYU Child Study Center study 59 percent of girls in 5th through 12th grade are "dissatisfied with their physical appearance." Research also shows that little girls' self esteem peaks at, are you ready for this, age 8. Further, a girl’s self esteem “PLUMMETS” after age 9. Yikes.
Sometimes it's that one glimpse that will get you moving in the right direction

I remember dating a guy several years ago who was a very well known male model. On a scale of 1-10 this guy was an 11, for sure! He was tall, had a chiseled facial structure, strong arms.

There are a few things to keep in mind when online dating: 1) A picture says a thousand words, 2) if you're looking for something very specific, go for a niche site and 3) know thyself. A new dating site has the latter two facets covered in spades (with a little of the first thrown in for grins). A place called TheUglyBugBall has surfaced in the UK, a place known for its abject honesty. The dating site is BeautifulPeople.com's opposite, in that it's for people who realize they're unattractive.

We're talking about why she's saying she's so good in bed: it's because she's not pretty. Hmmmm, an interesting theory despite the overshare. Ugly women make better lovers. Is it because the are just so grateful? Tell us, Courtney, tell us! Well, according to her, the reason why she's such a minx in the bedroom is "because I was never pretty. Pretty girls just lie there. Us girls who grew up a little more homely have to try a lot harder. That's why pretty girls never threaten me— it's like, yeah, you want to take me on? Take me on. Go for it." Huh, it kind of makes sense in the same vein that ugly girls have better personalities than pretty girls. Of course, we should never generalize... but maybe she is onto something!
Just last week we were extolling the virtues of being a late arrival to the pretty game.
"Being a late bloomer," our clever blogger Jed wrote, "usually means you're either super smart, really good at something, or used to be, well, less attractive. In any of these cases, it's a positive."
Indeed, wouldn't most of us — if forced to choose between the two — rather grow into our looks, rather than grow out of them? We think so. But that got us to thinking about something else: What happens if you start off not so pretty and never grow out of it?
