The Bachelor Jake picks Vienna over Tenley. Plus: The Dancing With The Stars surprise.
Oh, we may have to agree with the immortal words of The Bachelor host Chris Harrison: last night was, indeed, the most dramatic rose ceremony yet. Drama, of course, is judged on a spectrum. Last night's The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love final rose ceremony wasn't as harrowing as, say, rescuing a victim of the Haitian earthquakes. It was more harrowing than, um, buying milk. Perhaps the best way to describe it was that true emotions seemed to erupt from two highly groomed people in a highly cultivated, stage setting. We witnessed two people who proclaimed—and we must take … Read More
Though we'd totally date Alec Baldwin, Jerry Seinfeld, and pro-"exercise pole" Kelly Ripa.
Sunday after the Vancouver Olympics closing ceremonies, we got a sneak peek at Jerry Seinfeld's new show, The Marriage Ref. The idea behind the Seinfeld-produced show centers around the fact that, apparently, all married couples fight about absolutely inane topics, and the only way to resolve their issues is to take it to a celebrity expert panel—in this case, Seinfeld, Kelly Ripa, and, ahem, Alec Baldwin.
Regarding Alec Baldwin, as the host and "marriage ref" Tom Papa pointed out, "If you are, been, just got, or are getting out of marriage—we consider you an expert!"
The couples present their … Read More
Can Real Housewives' Tamra and Simon teach us what relationship mistakes we shouldn't duplicate.
From money issues to controlling husbands, what we can learn from the relationship mistakes of The Real Housewives of Orange County? Sadly, a lot. Here are the top five worst relationship moments from last night’s show. Let's not do as they say, or as they do…
1. Lynne Can't Communicate Clearly
Yes, we admit her meds might have something to do with it. But after Lynne and her family were evicted from their snazzy beach house, Lynne decides that it's entirely her husband's fault for not paying off the down payment. We think it's pretty foolish for a woman to totally ignore … Read More
The women told all, indeed! How to use their TV dating tips to help your real love life.
The Bachelor…On the Wings of Love…The Women Tell All is a very long title, and it was very long show. With two hours to kill, we saw how past contestants get drunk on Bachelor "reunion cruises," how they give back to charity, and—as host Chris Harrison kept saying—how exactly the "biggest TV scandal of 2010" went down, i.e. how contestant Rozlyn Papa got busy with a nameless producer (we're talking making out, probably with tongue) before both were kicked off the show.
So, yes, the women told all, Rozlyn denied everything, and who knows how many production assistants burnt their … Read More

As sex and relationship experts, we recently hosted a 10-episode UK television show called "SEX: How to Do Everything," which is now finally available in the States on DVD (perfect for Valentine's Day)! The series is chock-full of tips and techniques, from the ordinary to the super scandalous. Here are 10 of our favorite tidbits (but they're really just the tip of the show's iceberg!).
- The 69 is kind of like communism: great in theory, but not always so equitable in practice.
- You are what you ingest, whether that's pineapple and cinnamon … Read More
Jack, Kate, Sawyer and the rest of TV's "Lost" crew have taught us some valuable love lessons.
The sixth and final season of Lost is finally here (whee!) and fans are chomping at the bit to find out what happens to Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and all those mysterious (probably over-heated) polar bears. But beyond smoke monsters and the Dharma Initiative, Lost is really about the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 and the bonds between them (OK, and Sawyer's abs). Here are five love lessons we've learned from Lost; thankfully you don't have to be stranded on a tropical island to take advantage of these relationship tips.
1. Sorry, Jack: You can't deny real attraction.
Oh, the delicious tension … Read More
The hero of 24, Jack Bauer, may be a terrible husband after all.
We recently explored why 24's Jack Bauer would make a really terrific husband. And then it dawned on me that an awful lot of people who get close to Jack Bauer wind up injured, jailed or dead. When I wrote about why you'd want to marry Jack Bauer, I saw the glass as half full; I should have remembered that Jack Bauer only sees the glass as a tool for getting a terrorist to confess. That doesn't sound like someone you'd want to be married to at all. Read: 5 Reasons Why Jack Bauer Is A Great … Read More
Say Rozlyn Papa WAS diddling the producer. What's the big deal?
Here's what we think about this supposed Bachelor "cheating" situation: talk about a double standard.
First things first: we aren't super-fans of The Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise. While our DVR certainly has a soft spot for low-brow television, a parade of chiseled men and women vying to be "chosen" by a (often) dull suitor (whom they most likely wouldn't look at twice in ordinary life) doesn't tickle our fancy for entertainment. Especially when it tries to masquerade as true romance. While we know "reality TV" is a misnomer, something about the show is too contrived and inauthentic to be even be a guilty pleasure. … Read More
Follow Pep (of Salt-N-Pepa fame) and her friends as she goes on her first date in four years.
For someone who recorded a song called "Let's Talk About Sex," Sandra "Pep" Denton, (of Salt-N-Pepa fame), isn't getting a lot of it. In fact, she hasn't gone on a date, let alone done the deed, in more than four years. After suffering a series of bad boyfriends, Pep removed herself from the market in hope that she would magically meet her soul mate. Surprise, surprise, he never made an appearance.
"I've had my share of relationships," Pep, 45, laments in the trailer for her new show, Let's Talk About Pep. "But believe it or not, I'm still … Read More
Jerry returns to prime time next month with a comedic panel of marriage mediators.
Let the airing of grievances begin!
Jerry Seinfeld is returning to NBC in February with a new, unscripted series called The Marriage Ref, serving as co-producer along with Ellen Rakieten (rake it in?) of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Jerry explains that this is "not a therapy show, it's a comedy show," pointing out that some of the funniest TV programs throughout history have been about marriage. Since this one is about real marriage and real fights that inspire the scripted shows, it has the potential to be even funnier. Love & Anger: How to Fight Right
