GLBT Dating Dilemmas

Cracking the code of relationships as it pertains to you & yours by focusing on your needs and wants

Most of the relationship articles out there tend to be for heterosexual couples. I use part intuition and part knowledge on relationship dynamics to translate, adapt, and figure out what works best for you if you don't identify with or find yourself in traditional relationships. How and where you define yourself on the Kinsey spectrum scale of heterosexual to homosexual only matters when it masquerades the real you--and the complexity of human relationships. What really matters is understanding how and what to do to have long-lasting quality relationships.

Poll: Should 'DWTS' Have Banned Same-Sex Partner Dances?

"Dancing With The Stars" banned same-sex partner dances -- but included Chaz Bono in the cast.

It's time to break out those dancing shoes again! The TV world is all abuzz with the upcoming premiere of the celebrity dance competition on Sept. 19, and especially with the announcement of the Season 13 cast this past Monday, ABC and Dancing With The Stars made history by casting Chaz Bono, its first transgendered contestant.

Jenna Lyons and her son painting nails pink

Poll: What Message Does This Mom Painting Son's Nails Ad Send?

A new J.Crew ad showing a mom painting her son's toenails pink has caused a stir. What do you think?

"Lucky for me, I ended up with a boy whose favorite color is pink. Toenail painting is way more fun in neon." That's the quote, accompanied by a photo of J.Crew's creative director, Jenna Lyons, applying pink polish to 5-year-old son Beckett's toenails, that's caused a firestorm of cultural controversy and had critics crying "transgendered child propaganda." We're pretty sure the minds behind the catalog ad thought the toenail painting was just a cute mother-son activity to highlight on their "Saturday with Jenna" page. Prominent conservatives thought otherwise.

Pregnant Man

The Pregnant Transgendered Man Gives Birth To #3

But leaves the breastfeeding to his wife, because why would he want to mess up his post-op?

Thomas Beatie, whom the world first met in 2008 as the pregnant man seated on Oprah Winfrey's couch, has given birth to his third child. And his wife Nancy couldn't be happier... happy in spite of the fact that she'll be the one up all night on nursing duty. You see, even though Nancy (who reps the traditional femme role in the relationship) is unable to carry a child due to a hysterectomy, she is able to breast feed through the help of lactation-inducing hormones. She does, after all, still have her breasts, something her husband had removed years ago during his gender reassignment surgery.

Lithuania Pays For Sex Change

Lithuania Pays For Sex Change

With a bill in limbo, court orders Lithuania to pay for gender reassignment.

Note to lawmakers worldwide: If you hem and haw over the legality of sex change surgery, you may end up footing the bill. Reuters reports that Lithuania has paid $63,140 (40,000 euros) for a partially transgendered man to have complete gender reassignment surgery abroad, per a court order. The man, born a woman in 1978, won a case against his home state in the European Court of Human Rights, for sitting on a bill to allow reassignment surgery that was presented in 2003. The court ordered the Lithuanian parliament to pay for the woman to have the procedure if it still had not voted on the bill by July 1, a deadline the Eastern European nation clearly missed.
