Study: A Man's Laziness Doesn't Mean He Loves You Any Less

That he's great at romance but is slow to help with housework doesn't reflect his feelings for you.

In a new relationship, every kiss or cuddle is appreciated, cooed over, and dissected with girlfriends over brunch. But as time wears on, many of us begin to take small romantic gestures for granted, and instead focus on whether or not our partner is capable of ongoing thoughtful behavior. Does he call back when he said he would? Does he do household chores without being nagged? Does he put the toilet seat down? And if he doesn't, why not? "It's not that much effort!" we think. "Wouldn't he make it a priority to do those things if he really loved me?" Apparently, in some cases, the answer is "No."

Hulk Hogan Wants His Toilet Seat Back From His Ex

It looks like Linda Hogan may have taken liberties with her divorce settlement.

Just when we thought we'd heard the last of the Hulk Hogan divorce. But it looks like Linda Hogan and the Hulkster have a difference of opinion regarding their divorce settlement. Though Hulk Hogan was awarded their home, Linda Hogan felt peachy about removing all of its contents including lighting fixtures and an antique wooden toilet seat. A lawsuit is in the offing and the Hogan kids (nee Bollea) have plenty to be embarrassed about: a muscular, ugly divorce.

#DudesPleaseStart Doing These 7 Things

Get relationship advice in 140 characters or less.

The Twitter net has been OTR ("off the rack," shorty) the last little bit with hash tag Tweets (hash tags are a way of saying "this is cool" and "we're on the same team" by using this symbol: # and only usually have something to do with cannabis). The superstar hash tags today were mad relationship-y and included: #HesCuteBut, #ShesCuteBut and #LadiesPleaseStop. The hash tags are then followed by a pithy reason that he/she is not cute and what ladies need to cease doing. Delightful. Now try DudesPleaseStart.

A Marriage Battleground: The Toilet Seat

Whether it's up or it's down, the toilet seat represents bigger issues in a marriage.

Men think they are 100% straight shooters. Even if we want to believe that the majority of men have perfect aim (which is NOT true), it's clear that most haven't made the quantum leap necessary to understand the difference between a latrine—which is, by definition, a toilet used only by men—and a bathroom that's in one's home, to be used by everyone who lives in the house, as well as by any visitor. Whether men agree with the following statement or not, nothing can change the reality of it: Leaving the toilet seat up is a clear statement of control and power.

Don't Let The Toilet Seat Ruin Your Relationship

How not to let petty annoyances turn into dealbreakers.

Sometimes the toilet seat up is just the toilet seat up. But other times, that vertical piece of porcelain in the powder room is nothing short of a death wish, proof that your man never really loved you or respected you, and justifiable cause for exiling him to the land where couches replace beds and where sex is a single-person sport. At least that's how it feels. As April's issue of Psychology Today explains in an article entitled "You're Driving Me Crazy," petty annoyances can easily "coalesce into a vast, submerged force when they take on a different meaning in your mind – when you add them up as evidence of a character flaw or moral defect." But they don't have to.
