Brinkley and ex-husband snipe while judge rules on custody.
The divorce proceedings between Christie Brinkley and her fourth ex-husband, architect Peter Cook, are over. We think. Yesterday the couple, who married in 1996 and have two children, appeared in a Long Island courtroom to snipe viciously at each other while a judge attempted to bring them to an agreement in a custody dispute over daughter Sailor, 11, and son Jack, 14. Their respective lawyers reportedly came to an agreement around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Brinkley filed for divorce from Cook in September 2006, alleging that he cheated on her with an 18-year-old office assistant. In return, Cook called Brinkley … Read More
Is the tennis great being blackmailed by her ex?
Yikers. It looks like Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert have another thing in common: messy breakups. Per Wowowow, the tennis star's former lady, Toni Layton, is not going softly into that good night. She's kicking and screaming and could make things ugly for Martina Navratilova.
Layton and Navratilova dated for eight years and when it came time to split, Navratilova offered Layton $200,000 for her troubles. This was, apparently, a slap right in the kisser. Layton's lawyer says, "Layton was offered a measly, flat $200,000 for eight long years of 24/7 work and support for … Read More
Fighting with your man? Use the technique that will end his stay on the couch.
You like to shop, and he likes to save. He likes to smoke, and you like to breath. He wants to pee on you in the shower, but you would rather lather alone. Couples inevitably find themselves butting heads from time to time, and some contend that this is healthy as long as fangs remain concealed. Nonetheless, resolving arguments is seldom simple, and so Sidetaker.com offers a novel service that takes the guesswork out of deciding who is right and who is wrong. Settling your argument on Sidetaker.com is a reasonable way … Read More
Occasionally we get it wrong. Sorry Madonna, Katy Perry & Brad Pitt.
There has been a rash of wrong stories lately in the gossip game and it, frankly, sickens us. We've come to understand that the most important thing for a gossip monger is to get it right and not to entertain or titillate (heh). The blogosphere has a responsibility to take its time, gather the 411 (that's what the kids are calling information), fact-check, nail the syntax and grammar and put out Pulitzer-quality posts up to a dozen times per day.
That's why the celeb snark industry is just beside itself this week for really letting you, the reader, down this week.

Liz Rosenberg evidently dropped the ball on Madonna & Guy's settlement.
It appears this Liz Rosenberg of Madonna mouthpiece fame done up and done it and now has DListed to deal with. The news regarding Madonna and Guy Ritchie's divorce settlement appears to have been a bit premature (pre-muh-tour, as our 3rd grade teacher said). Accordingly, a joint statement was issued from both the Guy Ritchie and Madonna camps and went something like this (we're paraphrasing):
What you dudes wrote was wrong. And despite being told by a person who works for us, in an official capacity, we say shame on you, media. You know we're … Read More
Madonna to pay Guy Ritchie around £50 million.
OK. Just because this will be the last thing we ever have to write about them, we're here to let you know that Guy Ritchie and Madonna have settled on their divorce payout or so they say. And by 'they' we mean her people. And by 'her people' we don't mean Italian-Americans with English accents or ambitious pop stars looking at the second half of their lives. We mean her representatives. And by 'representatives,' we don't mean elected officials from her district that are tasked with looking out for her best interests, we mean the army of lawyers, … Read More
Blake Fielder-Civil wants more of Amy Winehouse's money.
According to Bossip, Blake Fielder-Civil (ex-con, narcotics enthusiast) evidently has some dirt on Amy Winehouse. Apparently, the chivalrous young chap would prefer to keep this information to himself. But the sort of information that he is privy to may be valuable to someone, at some point. So, Blake Fielder-Civil has some decisions to make. Should he sit on this information, he’ll miss out on a goodly-sized check. If he's to do the honorable thing, the people will not be informed (as is their right) to the inner goings on of their favorite substance-abusing, tattooed songstress.
The Madonna - Guy Ritchie divorce is in the side-choosing phase.
In any breakup, divorce, or 'break' lines in the sand get drawn and everyone has to choose a side. And why would that be any different for the Madonna – Guy Ritchie split? We'll spare you the obvious allies (or not, A-Rod's on her side and new squeeze Kelly Reilly is down with Guy) but some of the other might be a little less obvious. For the purpose of this exercise, we'll probably reference some dubious sources and likely jump to conclusions, just to show how silly this thing has gotten.

Can Paul McCartney’s Ex Buy Happiness?
High-roller Heather Mills may be longing for yesterday, after news of her arguably-excessive spending has come to fruition. Fametastic reports that Mills has spent £10 million from her seven months-old-divorce settlement with legendary musician Paul McCartney. A source says Heather has been moaning that her money isn't going as far as she'd thought.
While £10 million is no chump change –its interest alone could feed a small army- Mills does seem to have more where that came from. Her sum settlement weighted in at about £24.3 million pounds: £7.8 million pounds of existing assets, £14 million straight up cash, … Read More
Brinkley-Cook divorce finally settled?
After front-page coverage in the NYTimes Sunday Styles section, not to mention almost two years on the brutal front lines of the legal battlefield, Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook have finally settled the terms of their divorce.
Peter Cook got his teenaged assistant. Christie gets custody of the kids, and better yet, the Hamptons real estate. With a measly check written out to her now fourth ex-husband for $2.1 million, she can wipe her hands clean of her 12-year marriage. If only we could all claim that kind of closure.
We might soon be … Read More
