Is a guy's taste in pornography really a window to his soul?
Our rivals, friends and sometimes lovers over at Lemondrop have a very interesting take on what a guy's porn tastes say about his personality and predilections. The gist (heh) is that a dude's interest in porn (if he has one, I think the assumption that all men interested in sex are into porn is a bit overblown) generally has a subtler message than you'd guess. The whole thing is metaphor. A dude who likes watching the rough stuff (leather, handcuffs, really mean women, et cetera) may not really want an Amazon to literally step on his junk.
Sounds reasonable, … Read More
How did porn become OK? Was it Howard Stern, Jenna Jameson, Joe Francis, Larry Flynt?
Anyone notice how much the word "porn" is thrown around lately? Is it designed to shock or something? A few porn stars teamed up with the Gunn Brothers to bring us PG Porn, Isabella Rossellini and the Sundance Channel brought us Green Porno, Eli Roth and his contemporaries made popular a sub-genre of horror known as torture porn and shelter magazines (like Blueprint and Domino) have introduced us to home décor porn. Has "porn" just become in a stand-in word for gratuitous, idealized and, ultimately, fruitless? And if so, is it just because of porn's binary relationship … Read More
Robot sex, dog visitation rights, teens aren't dating & acid attacks.
Good morning, and welcome to December 15, 2008. And here is today’s news: Into porn, in a bad way? You could be in luck. The channel that killed the radio star (as an accomplice), birthed reality TV (a true story about what happens when strangers stop being nice and start being real) and brought us that creep time-lapsed show about that drunk dude wants to climb inside the brain of a porn addict, walk around a bit and see what makes him tick (among other things). And, according to Boinkology, they need a cast. It's still … Read More
Now Duchovny has a sex addiction too.
Anyone out there love it when life imitates art? Or when an actor sort o plays the version of himself that he'd love to be and then sort of becomes that guy (hey, it's Adrian Grenier everybody)? It looks like, per The Insider, that David Duchovny has entered that phase of his life, career, and relationship and is seeking treatment for sex addiction.
We suppose it could be worse. Instead of emulating his character Hank Moody from Showtime's Californication, he could have turned into The X-Files' Fox Mulder. Liking sex even liking sex a lot … Read More
The legal team for the former model already have all guns blazing.
Against all better advice, Peter Cook decided not to fold his hand and now his divorce from Christie Brinkley is in a real, live, public, divorce court. The fireworks began today as, according to the New York Post, Cook admitted that he hired teenager Diana Bianchi with the intention of getting her in the bed. Mission accomplished, dingus.
Evidently, Brinkley's legal team seeks to paint Cook in the most negative light possible and in the month that the trial is to progress we'll hear about Cook's every indiscretion from up to 60 witnesses. In this … Read More
Some couples use it to sex up a relationship. For others, it spells the end.
Nowhere do you find stranger bedfellows than in porn—and I'm not even talking about the performers. Seldom do feminists, fundamentalists and the federal government find themselves on common ground, but all three are currently united in an anti-porn ménage a trois. On the other side of the issue are free-speech advocates, porn stars and the 40 million Americans who, according to Internet Filter Review, regularly visit X-rated websites.
The only thing everyone agrees on? There's more porn now than ever, thanks to the wonders of technology.
Like most things, porn was a lot harder in the old days. Back then, … Read More
Sex addiction is now the 3rd largest cause of money issues in Britain.
A survey of people calling into a debt-relief hotline in the UK revealed that sex and porn were major cash problems. In the first 9 months of 2007, a fourth of callers listed brothels, strip clubs, and porno as contributing to money issues. Sex/ porn now ranks third behind alcohol/ drugs and shopping addiction as a source of money concerns. We’re guessing that gambling probably got pushed into fourth. Which is kind of amazing because gambling is all about money. Maybe gambling isn’t such a money problem because there’s a … Read More
