Last weekend in Toronto, where I live, a reported 1,000 people marched together in the first-ever SlutWalk. The campaign was a response to a comment made at a local university by a police officer, who said women should avoid "dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized." The police have since apologized for the officer's comment, but it still hit hard with the organizers of SlutWalk.
Paula Abdul calls the police on Valentine's Day during a heated argument with her boyfriend.
Paula Abdul and her beau weren't exactly feeling the love on Valentine's Day. According to TMZ, the former American Idol judge placed a hysterical call to 911, sobbing and telling the operator that her boyfriend wouldn't let her out of his car. They got into quite the blow-up.
I just finished reading a blog post discussing the issue as to whether or not the "other woman" should apologize when an affair or cheater is exposed. The arguement was that the "other woman" should apologize for everything that she did, and several of the comments conveyed that opinion. However, I have an entirely different attitude and opinion on the subject matter.
Why should the "other woman" apologize? She isn't sorry for anything. You only apologize when you're truly sorry for your actions, and in these situations the "other woman" is never sorry for what she did. Only on rare occasions does the "other woman" not know that the man is married, and in that case, I suppose that an apology would be in the works. However, when the "other woman" knows that the man is married, she knows what she's getting into, it's no secret, therefore, there is no sense in apologizing for something that you do not regret.
Mother of 14 kids is hiding out from press and public criticism in an undisclosed location.
Nadya Suleman, newly made mother of 14 children, is a news story that won't quit. The Associated Press reports "Suleman has been supporting her six other children with $490 a month in food stamps and receives Social Security disability payments for three of the youngsters that could total $2,379 a month." Her octuplets, who were born prematurely on January 26 and remain in the hospital, are racking up further expenses. The AP says the cost of raising 14 children as a single mother in California lies somewhere between $1.3 to $2.7 million. Taxpayers—perhaps those struggling to pay their own family's expenses in a recession—are angry.
This week in wedding disasters, glass; stabbing; lightning and tasers.
Waiters and barkeeps beware! You may get a little more than a sloppy kiss from a happy bridesmaid at your next job. It must have been the bride and groom's violent love set off a guest at the a celebration in Edinburgh UK, where someone, (an unrequited love, perhaps?) attacked a waiter with a glass water jug creating a blood-covered tablecloth and police investigation. But a little glass in the face has nothing on a knife in the neck, which is what an employee at a Rochester bar received after breaking up a fight during a wedding reception.
When porn really, really hurts. Like in a stabbing way.
Apparently, a New Mexico woman is being held in police custody for stabbing her BF. What's so special about that? Well, she tried to "shank" him (his words, not ours) because she was sure he was the male actor in the porn that they were watching. On a Wednesday. At 10:30 in the morning.
