Contrary to popular belief, a drink can be a great tool for finding a man!
With the holidays coming, social gatherings are sure to be on everyone’s agenda. Instead of wasting time explaining to people why you're single at the next party or night out, grab a drink and tell your favorite pushy acquaintance (or family member) that you’re “workin’ on it." Before we begin, I will mention that many tweets ago, YourTango’s very own Tom, created a hashtag on Twitter that said that #songsthatleadtosex were any songs by War or NWA. Now, maybe "Straight Outta Compton" might not work so well, but I’ll say a little "Why Can’t We Be Friends" attitude is encouraged when we talk about drinking, flirting and “becoming friends.”

Face it: Being single isn't always empowering and fun. Sure, you get all that "me time" to read a new novel, focus on work, apply a deep-cleansing mask when no one is looking or reconnect with girlfriends over cocktails. Still, being single can make you feel frustrated, angry, not worthy of love and even hopeless. That bad attitude could also be the reason you're single.
Sure, a lounge is a great place to meet singles, but will they be high-brow?
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I finally watched the MTV trash hit Jersey Shore (like how I used "trash" instead of "smash"?), but I'm having a harder and harder time believing that you can find someone who would qualify as an "intellectual" in a bar or lounge or club scenario. Not everyone is interested in dating, chatting or fooling around with an "intellectual." Let's be clear, a smarty and an intellectual are not the same thing (no son los mismos cosas). A smart person is good at figuring things out and solving problems (if not getting in adventures). An intellectual is generally smart and knowledgeable (generally called book smarts*). And they're generally in the know about stuff like current events, literature, the arts and usually one specific area of science. Periodically, an intellectual, particularly the male of the species, can trend towards blowhardism.
