Vince and the gang teach us a lot about living and a little about love.
HBO's smash hit Entourage is an illustration of many things: a celeb-obsessed culture, boys-will-be-boys Peter Pan-ism, conspicuous consumption, a consequence-free hook-up atmosphere and me-too voyeurism… but it also provides a few lessons to be learned. The show, loosely based on Mark Wahlberg's rise to fame in Hollywood, isn't all fast cars, fellatio and fart jokes. A new museum where visitors are encouraged to touch the displays.
We remember the class in college called "Human Sexuality" for which there was usually a long waiting list. For that, you received a simple textbook. Now there are museums. Same goes for the rest of the Botwin clan and their friends. But, everyone's blunders have made for great TV. In honor of the recent premiere of the 5th season, here are three things we've learned about love from watching … Read More
An honest look at what can—and can't—improve because of couples therapy.
Going to couples therapy wasn't something my boyfriend or I had to wrangle the other into. Our rough patch was more like a slick of black ice, and we were careening towards a precipitous ending. We had moved in together almost a year earlier, and couples therapy seemed easier than breaking up. It would at least buy us time to figure out how to split our belongings while I looked for my own place in New York City.
I went into counseling thinking Ryan had to change. If he didn't fix at least eight of the things that were … Read More
