Scotsman gets community service for setting up fake dating profiles for former friend.
It looks like a certain Scotsman did not take the time to check out our Top Ten Rules Of Facebook Etiquette and draw general life lessons from it (while we're talking Facebook, check out our Facebook Manners And You, because Ashton Kutcher thinks it rocks).
Per the BBC, Allan Troup (the Scot in question) decided to play a little prank on a friend, confidante, customer and business associate Kenneth McEwan using fake dating site profiles.
Here's the thing, they started out friends, it was cool but it was all pretend (yeah yeah). Allan Troup retained (what's your … Read More
It turns out it's not fraud to tell a loved one that it's a real diamond.
OK. A guy and a lady got married. They were happy or as happy as any of us are. Then thinks took a left turn to irreconcilable differences town (somewhere in Pennsylvania). Lady finds out that her rock (shine, ice, bling, whatever you kids call it these days) was actually not made of naturally occurring crystalline carbon formed by the pressures of plate tectonics (and the financier of some of the world's nastiest civil wars). "Great Expectations" lead to great disappointment and possibly fraud.
The Arizona Republic is reporting that some unhappy customers think they are victims of online dating fraud. The site 'Great Expectations For Singles' is being accused of misrepresenting their success rate, the number and demeanor of singles who are ready to mingle, and that their clients have been thoroughly screened. That's a bummer man, though, for the … Read More

CHATTAROY, Wash -- A woman fighting to regain widow's benefits has learned Social Security Administration officials were right -- her husband really is still alive.
Judy Sullivan, 66, was given proof that a man who identified himself as Jack Sullivan in an undisclosed East Coast location was the same man who vanished 16 years ago after 25 years of marriage, the Spokesman-Review of Spokane reported Tuesday.
Earlier this year, Social Security officials stopped sending checks and demanded that Judy Sullivan repay the more than $90,000 she had received, saying Jack Sullivan had been found. … Read More

As far as Kimberly Shirak of Ypsilanti, Mich., is concerned, she and her husband of six months are married - really, truly, legally married.
And to prove it, she's got a marriage certificate from Las Vegas' Garden of Love, photos of family members and an Elvis impersonator, and the signature of an official witness.
Problem is, the witness - the chapel's co-owner - was about 1,000 miles away at the time of the April 7 nuptials, watching an Ultimate Fighting Championship match in Texas.
So, back to the big question: Does that mean Shirak is … Read More
