Elin Nordegren's divorce settlement is a huge chunk of hush money from Tiger Woods.
As Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren's divorce inches closer to becoming official, we've discovered that Elin will be walking away from the marriage with a whopping $750 million—one of the largest divorce settlements ever. (What does that come out to...$50M per mistress?) Of course, Tiger is getting something for his money: Elin's silence.
Diandra Douglas tries to prove that she's entitled to some of her ex-husband's 'Wall Street' cash.
Diandra Douglas, ex-wife of Michael Douglas, must have seen Wall Street one too many times because she's really taking that whole "greed is good" bit seriously. Although Michael forked over $45 million to Diandra in their 2000 divorce settlement, Diandra's lawyers are now claiming that the settlement entitles her to not only a portion of Michael's earnings from movies made while they were still married (including Wall Street), but also a chunk of any money earned from said movies' spin-offs.
It looks like Linda Hogan may have taken liberties with her divorce settlement.
Just when we thought we'd heard the last of the Hulk Hogan divorce. But it looks like Linda Hogan and the Hulkster have a difference of opinion regarding their divorce settlement. Though Hulk Hogan was awarded their home, Linda Hogan felt peachy about removing all of its contents including lighting fixtures and an antique wooden toilet seat. A lawsuit is in the offing and the Hogan kids (nee Bollea) have plenty to be embarrassed about: a muscular, ugly divorce.
The other Frank McCourt may lose his baseball team in his divorce.
Just when things couldn't get worse for the Dodgers… In addition to taking a thumping from the Philadelphia Phillies (and ruining what Fox would have called a fantastic LA-NY World Series), the Dodgers ownership may have big problems. Their owner Frank McCourt and wife Jamie are going their separate ways ("some day love will find you"). Unfortunately, the real-estate developer's largest property is the Los Angeles Dodgers. And word on the street is the Bums (the Dodgers nickname before they moved from Brooklyn to LaLa Land) are worth $722 million (thanks Forbes).
Gibson's girlfriend, Oksana, is reportedly pregnant with Mel's 8th child.
There's even more to the Gibson family saga than we originally thought. At first Mel Gibson and his soon-to-be-ex-wife Robyn Gibson were divorcing. Not usually a surprising enterprise in La La Land. But this divorce, after 28 years of marriage, was going to result in one of the largest settlements in Hollywood history. Read: Mel Gibson Divorce Might Make History
The couple had been separated for three years, and are devout Catholics, which begged the question of why Robyn chose to finally file for divorce. Enter Oksana Grigorieva. Mel's girlfriend, and a resident in one of Gibson's homes. A kept woman, if you will, and yes, we definitely will. Read: Mel Gibson's Other Woman Revealed
No-fault divorce laws don't have to leave you stranded.
Before no-fault divorce laws, the courts considered sex something that was exclusive to marriage. A wife was protected from the negative consequences of adultery by criminal law, specific divorce laws that addressed adultery, and, in some cases, alienation of affection laws. With the introduction of no-fault divorce laws, the courts, for some reason, decided they had no business being involved in the issue of whether or not a husband was faithful, or the right of a wife to be compensated for a husband's cheating ways. In these times, what is a jilted spouse to do?
Liz Rosenberg evidently dropped the ball on Madonna & Guy's settlement.
The settlement news that every outlet reported was a bit premature for Madonna and Guy Ritchie. This isn't the first time we've thought they had a settlement but it is the first time that Madonna's representative Liz Rosenberg has announced something officially to the media. We (the media) do not like getting jerked around gang. We're not going to fall for that more that 3 or 4 times.
Oh man, this guy just can't catch a break. Not only is he solely known as the homewrecker who broke up Madge and Guy's marriage, rather than the third baseman for the Yanks, but he's now being called a bad dad because he is allegedly spending Turkey day with Madonna. Alright, alright, we can see why people would judge him for this move. As The Superficial says, he has just left his wife in a highly-publicized divorce and should be spending these rough times with his own children during the holidays, but still, he's being harrassed left and right! If I were the guy, I'd want to take a nice, long solo vacation to get away from all the madness!
Guy Ritchie walks away from Madonna's money for the sake of the kids.
Between the alleged affair with A-Rod and the rumored absence of pre-nup we expected to still be talking about Madonna and Guy's divorce when the Material Girl turned 60. According to the Times Online, Guy has simply walked away from Madge's money in exchange for Rocco and David splitting their time between England and the US.
It looks like Alex Rodriguez's marriage is basically done.
Alex Rodriguez just got his divorce settlement taken care of. At one point, he wanted wife Cynthia Rodriguez to stick to the terms of their prenup. She was not into that. The details as to who got what haven't been released yet. On the bright side for A-Rod, he just passed a career milestone: 35 homers in 12 different season. Good job! And he doesn't have to worry about the brutal New York fans in this year's playoffs. Note: the Yankees will not be in this year's playoffs.
Yep, Phil Collins divorce cost him more than Paul McCartney's.
Phil Collins has split from wife Orianne Cevey. In fact it was the most expensive entertainer divorce in UK history. Yes, even more expensive than McCartney's split. In total, Phil has paid more than $80 million in divorce settlement. Yikes.
