The other Frank McCourt may lose his baseball team in his divorce.
Here's some baseball news we can get into: the husband-and-wife duo that runs the LA Dodgers are heading into a sticky situation.
Per People, Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and his wife Jamie are going their separate ways. The real-estate developer's largest property is the Los Angeles Dodgers and word on the street is the team is worth $722 million (thanks Forbes). So far so good. Read: How To Financially Prepare for Divorce
The problem? Jamie McCourt is the CEO of the ball club. Because she's the boss, her legal team believes that the Dodgers are a 50/50 venture. … Read More
Gibson's girlfriend, Oksana, is reportedly pregnant with Mel's 8th child.
There's even more to the Gibson family saga than we originally thought. At first Mel Gibson and his soon-to-be-ex-wife Robyn Gibson were divorcing. Not usually a surprising enterprise in La La Land. But this divorce, after 28 years of marriage, was going to result in one of the largest settlements in Hollywood history. Read: Mel Gibson Divorce Might Make History
The couple had been separated for three years, and are devout Catholics, which begged the question of why Robyn chose to finally file for divorce. Enter Oksana Grigorieva—Mel's girlfriend, and a resident in one of Gibson's homes. A kept … Read More
No-fault divorce laws don't have to leave you stranded.
Before no-fault divorce laws, the courts considered sex something that was exclusive to marriage. A wife was protected from the negative consequences of adultery by criminal law, specific divorce laws that addressed adultery, and, in some cases, alienation of affection laws. With the introduction of no-fault divorce laws, the courts, for some reason, decided they had no business being involved in the issue of whether or not a husband was faithful, or the right of a wife to be compensated for a husband's cheating ways.Let's look at marriage and adultery from an economic point of view. Marriage vows … Read More
Liz Rosenberg evidently dropped the ball on Madonna & Guy's settlement.
It appears this Liz Rosenberg of Madonna mouthpiece fame done up and done it and now has DListed to deal with. The news regarding Madonna and Guy Ritchie's divorce settlement appears to have been a bit premature (pre-muh-tour, as our 3rd grade teacher said). Accordingly, a joint statement was issued from both the Guy Ritchie and Madonna camps and went something like this (we're paraphrasing):
What you dudes wrote was wrong. And despite being told by a person who works for us, in an official capacity, we say shame on you, media. You know we're … Read More
A-Rod "abandons" children to be with Madonna.
Oh man, this guy just can't catch a break. Not only is he solely known as the homewrecker who broke up Madge and Guy's marriage, rather than the third baseman for the Yanks, but he's now being called a bad dad because he is allegedly spending Turkey day with Madonna. Alright, alright, we can see why people would judge him for this move. As The Superficial says, he has just left his wife in a highly-publicized divorce and should be spending these rough times with his own … Read More
Guy Ritchie walks away from Madonna's money for the sake of the kids.
Look, we're going to be honest here. Madonna and Guy Ritchie splitting up wasn't the most surprising piece of celebrity news we've ever heard (um, hello Heath Ledger's accidental overdose), but their speedy divorce settlement certainly made us do a double-take. Between the alleged affair with A-Rod and the rumored absence of pre-nup we expected to still be talking about Madonna and Guy's divorce when the Material Girl turned 60. According to the Times Online, Guy has simply walked away from Madge's money in exchange for Rocco and David splitting their time between England … Read More
It looks like Alex Rodriguez's marriage is basically done.
As the late, great Mel Allen would say, "How about that?" The Rods, A and C, have settled their divorce amicably. According to The Hollywood Gossip, Alex Rodriguez and Cynthia Rodriguez have "deliberately engaged in these private negotiations. During the negotiations and resolution all decisions were made with the best interests of their children as the paramount concern." Pretty good, prett-y good.
The details of the deal were not made public but we're guessing that some blabbermouth clerk will probably spill the beans to the New York Post within a day or so. We mentioned back … Read More
Yep, Phil Collins divorce cost him more than Paul McCartney's.
Take that, Macca. A fellow British Rock N' Roll hall-of-famers has officially paid his ex more in a divorce settlement than Paul McCartney. Phil Collins (former drummer/star of Genesis) just reached the end of his divorce from Orianne Cevey and according to People she received almost $47 million. Depending on the exchange rate, this is about $2 million more than the £24.3 million that Heather Mills wrested away from the world's greatest living musician.
This was Phil Collins' third divorce (and none of the women were named Sussudio) and you would have thought that he’d learned a … Read More
