Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore and Emma Stone make an irresistible team in this winner of a rom-com. Throw in a funny and original script, add a dash of Marissa Tomei and Kevin Bacon, and layer on a few endearing newcomers, and you have a film that almost anyone can enjoy. So...can we say "good date movie?"

Jane (Mia Wasikowska) is the ultimate Plain Jane, with hat hair, dingy dresses and a stoic face. She's bright and good, but life deals her some very hard knocks. All in all, the latest adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's classic makes for good cinema. But is it a date movie?

This indie drama is all about family and values—topics that make for a heart-warming date. ''The King's Speech." The inspiring marriage at the heart of this drama makes it totally date-worthy. ''127 Hours." The carnage is a great excuse to grab his arm—and to make us thankful that he still has them. ''The Social Network." Facebook has universal appeal, so this is a win-win for almost any couple.
Now that summer's coming, we can say goodbye to coats, colds, hay fever, and best of all, spring's notoriously bad movies. After Tarzan and Rome & Juliet, Robin Hood is likely the most-remade movies in the history of cinema. Every decade or so, a director or television show-runner gets his shot at telling the story and only need to include the following: an archer, a tax-crazed monarch, some merry men, a lil slice of heaven called Nottingham and a little romance with an earnest noblewoman. Everything else is up to the auteur's vision.This time around Ridley Scott has Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett to play with, but is the new Robin Hood actually a date movie?
This Friday (March 12) Matt Damon is back to his badass, running, gunning and thinking ways with Green Zone. The handsome Oscar-ino (for Best Original Screenplay) teams up with "Bourne" episodes 2 and 3 director Paul Greengrass for this political blow 'em up. The big question, though, is "Green Zone" a date movie?
The Wolfman, directed by Joe Johnson, harks back to a gentler era of horror. A time when a scary monster (perhaps a man wrestling an inner demon), an ominous score and a few frights via surprise were enough to turn a trip to the drive-in into a surefire voyage to second base. But it's possible that this latest iteration, a Benicio del Toro flick, isn't really the best choice for a Valentine's Day movie date.
As much as we enjoyed Avatar, James Cameron's 3-D masterpiece, we can't in good faith recommend it as a go-to date movie. Why? Because it's making people sick.
