Carrie Fisher's memoirs, Wishful Drinking, takes aim at everyone.
Sweet sci-fi scintillation. Carrie Fisher, per the New York Post's Page Six, has a feisty memoir coming out before the end of this year. And it looks like the Darth Vader's daughter (Fisher not Mary Cheney) has a axe to grind with basically everyone.
First off, she seems to be more than slightly unhappy with her father's (Eddie Fisher) perfidy. Though later men were far more awful to her mom Debbie Reynolds. She also makes light of her ex-husband's (Bryan Lourdes) allegation that she turned him gay with her drug use. She must have introduced him to … Read More
A Star Wars wedding in a galaxy far far too close.
A couple of Portlanders decided to forego convention and flirt with the line between good taste and whatever's on the other side of said line and Star Wars it up for their wedding. Yes, it was a Star Wars wedding for Rebecca D'Madeiros and Bill Duda. The couple decided (and we're paraphrasing), "Hey, the original trilogy was brilliant, let's do this thing." So, the Telegraph reports that the pair dressed as Rebel Alliance stalwarts Mon Mothma and Admiral Ackbar (a fishy character known for his tactical supremacy) and got married by Yoda. Of their officiator Bill Duda says, … Read More

Geek chic is so prevalent these days, it's nearly cliché.
So, when checking out SweetonGeeks.com, a site billing itself as "A Dating Space Where Gray Matters," I was expecting to encounter a bunch of trendy geek touches, like thick-rimmed glasses and Battlestar Galactica discussion forums.
Mensa ads on the home page and a browse through the site's video links (a girl completing a Rubicks Cube in 17 seconds, an animated "Code Monkey" music video) assured me SweetonGeeks is not for "feeks" (faux geeks), and that only the truly nerdy need apply. Adding further to its geek cred is the founder, … Read More
Carrie Fisher says that she and Harrison Ford got intimate filming Star Wars.
The dudes over at The Superficial are reporting that Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford got a little frisky during the filming of Star Wars: A New Hope (which is the first film made in the series but Episode IV in the Star Wars universe’s chronology). Fisher said that she went into the filming thinking she was "going to have an affair." Fun! The Superficial makes some nice jokes involving lightsabers and Sarlacc pits to put things in perspective for hardcore Star Wars virgins (like George Lucas).
Evidently, more details will come to light when a special about … Read More
A round-up of Star Wars, Star Trek and goth geeks getting hitched.
You wore Vera Wang—he wore Boba Fett? Or maybe he wore powder blue, and you were Seven of Nine. Either way, it seems there's a new trend in wedding attire, and it's anything but chaste and white. In fact, the cool kids at Wired have gathered a fantastic collection of geeks at the altar. And, as I seem to have stirred up a lot of unwitting controversy with my recent article Why Geeks Are The New Chic, I'm here to tell you about it. So that I … Read More
