2011 will go down in history books as a very special year in celebrity weddings.
This year, not only did we wake up at dawn one April morning to watch the televised wedding of the future King and Queen of England, but we also watched our own American reality TV queen walk down the aisle in a lavish ceremony. Add to that a surprise elopement between two A-list stars, an almost-runaway princess bride, and a Las Vegas wedding between two wannabe reality stars with a major age difference.
The scoop on the woman who just made McCartney the happiest man alive.
Paul McCartney famously sang, "Will you still love me when I'm 64?" Well, he's technically 69, but 51-year-old Nancy Shevell just answered "I do!" McCartney married his third wife this weekend in London following four years of courtship.
London was buzzing this weekend over royal wedding number two!
Sir Paul McCartney was all smiles on Sunday after he and his lady love, Nancy Shevell, said, "I do!" The couple were married in an afternoon ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London, according to People. The former Beatle and his American wife were greeted with cheers and tons of rose petals as they exited the Town Hall as newlyweds. Guests included fellow Beatle Ringo Starr and his wife, Barbara Bach, Shevell's cousin Barbara Walters, as well as Shevell's son, Arlen, and McCartney's youngest daughter, Beatrice, who served as the flower girl. Both McCartney, 69, and Shevell, 51, wore designs by (who else?) Stella McCartney, Paul's fashion designer daughter.
Nancy Shevell is reportedly set to become Mrs. Paul McCartney #3.
You have to hand it to Paul McCartney. Despite a very messy and public divorce from his last wife, Heather Mills, the 68-year-old former Beatle is evidently not afraid to take another stroll down the wedding aisle. According to People Magazine, Paul is engaged to his girlfriend of four years, American socialite and millionaire Nancy Shevell.
What do these nine people have in common? Fleeing embarrassment to Dancing With the Stars.
With the news that Bristol Palin will join the cast of the eleventh season of Dancing With the Stars this fall, we decided to take a look back at some other famous (or "famous") people who parlayed tabloid infamy, public humiliation, and negligible familiarity with the pachanga into a stint on ABC's increasingly misnamed foxtrot free-for-all.
A look at some enduring love songs and the women who inspired them.
When American Idol finalist Crystal Bowersox performed Janis Joplin's "Me And Bobby McGee" last week, it got everyone thinking about who the real Bobby McGee was. The tune, written by Janis' former lover Kris Kristofferson, might have actually been inspired by Janis herself. Some songwriters are much more forthcoming about the muses behind their compositions. Here now is a list of love songs and the famous ladies who inspired them.
We take a look back at Brangelina, Bennifer, and the 00s' most unforgettable celebrity love stories.
Over the last ten years, we've watched our favorite celebs hook up, break up, break down, flip out, and start over. With all of its love triangles, legal battles, family dramas, and political scandals, the "Naughties" certainly earned its wicked name!
Breaking up is hard to do, especially for the rich and famous.
Celebrity divorces including Amy Winehouse vs. Blake Fielder-Civil, Kate Walsh vs. Alex Young, Christie Brinkley vs. Peter Cook, Charlie Sheen vs. Denise Richards, and Paul McCartney vs. Heather Mills, are just as messy as civilian splits, but they're far more entertaining.
High-roller Heather Mills may be longing for yesterday, after news of her arguably-excessive spending has come to fruition. Fametastic reports that Mills has spent £10 million from her seven months-old-divorce settlement with legendary musician Paul McCartney. A source says Heather has been moaning that her money isn't going as far as she'd thought.
While £10 million is no chump change –its interest alone could feed a small army- Mills does seem to have more where that came from. Her sum settlement weighted in at about £24.3 million pounds: £7.8 million pounds of existing assets, £14 million straight up cash, and £2.5 set aside for a new London home.
McLachlan, Mischa, Dunst, Tara Reid, and John Lennon had big weeks.
It was a big week and we didn't catch everything. It looks like Sarah McLachlan and Mischa Barton have some relationship problems. Kirsten Dunst and Justin Long aren't really dating. Tara Reid ain't engaged. And did John have a thing for Paul?
Yep, Phil Collins divorce cost him more than Paul McCartney's.
Phil Collins has split from wife Orianne Cevey. In fact it was the most expensive entertainer divorce in UK history. Yes, even more expensive than McCartney's split. In total, Phil has paid more than $80 million in divorce settlement. Yikes.
