Mark Sanford
Sarah Palin, Ted Kennedy, John Edwards and Mark Sanford shocked us in summer of '09.
While it may seem that summer began with the Gosselin divorce and ended with Michael Jackson's burial, Memorial Day and Labor Day are what actually mark the bookends of traditional summer.
Certainly a lot happened in Celebrity Love land in between, and some of the most gobsmacking shockers came from the world of politics—where conflict is all in a day's work. YourTango's Celebrity Editor Kristine Gasbarre (independently registered, for the record) has highlighted the best of the worst for you. As we kiss this summer goodbye, we can thank these politicans' slip-ups for … Read More

New details have emerged about Mark Sanford's mistress and his marriage, most compelling of which may be the latest photos of his mistress Maria Belen Chapur. Mark Sanford: Mistress Is My "Soul Mate"
Last night LA Late published photos of Chapur, an Argentine television journalist and translator who was described in June to Huffington Post by a bartender who saw Sanford and Chapur on a cuddly date as having green eyes, dirty blonde hair and a "banging body." She's also a 43-year-old divorced mother of two.

Mark Sanford's split continues to wreck his family, but his wife's commitment is impressive.
Jenny Sanford, wife of South Carolina governor Mark Sanford, moved out of the couple’s home last Friday with at least three of their four sons according to Huffington Post. The couple apparently failed to reconcile following Gov. Sanford’s earth-shattering revelation in June of a longtime affair with Maria Belen Chapur, an Argentine mistress. Celebrity Love: Mark Sanford: Mistress Is My "Soul Mate"

Differing opinions on how detrimental divorce may be for both the parents and the children.
Coming from a divorced family, I have spent my life questioning the idea of a life-long commitment. Most of the adults I know have been divorced at least once, and of the couples who are still married, most of them (along with their kids) appear miserable. And so, while I would love to find a companion whose company I will enjoy "'til death do us part," I've learned from observation that this just might not be a realistic goal. And is it so horrible to think that maybe we weren't supposed to spend our entire lives with … Read More
If more political couples were getting it on regularly, would the country be a better place?
This July 4th, perhaps the focus for Mr. and Mrs. Politician should be more on the fireworks happening between their sheets (or lack thereof) rather than the one’s overlooking the Washington Monument.
That’s right, this holiday, if you love your country then please shag your partner.
We know it’s hard. It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Between fundraisers and photo ops and everything else that’s happened since you two tied the knot, the spark has surely fizzled.
But enough with the excuses! Ladies and Gentlemen of the State, husbands and wives to the politicos, please go get your groove on.

The governor says his mistress is his soul mate, but he'll fall in love with his wife again.
It's been a rough week or so for South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford. Not only has his affair with Argentina native Maria Belen Shapur come out, but since this revelation, many of the state's lawmakers are calling on Sanford to step down. And while the governor insists that he is ready to "fall back in love" with his wife, Jenny, he has also sought to take control of the situation. And by control, we mean blow up any credibility he had left.
In an inteview with the Associated Press, Sanford said he's had flirtations with other women, but … Read More
The South Carolina governor has some more splaining to do.
Stop me if you've heard this one before. Here goes, there's a very charming governor. And one day, this man (an up-and-comer in his political party) decides to stray from his wife. Things were swimming right along and BAM he up and gets caught. This time around there were no hookers involved (nor any Arkansas highway patrolmen). There was just a guy who ditched his security detail, made up some cockamamie story about hiking, forgot to transfer power to his Lieutenant Governor and took the express train* to Argentina.
As you likely know, this guy's name is Mark Sanford. He's … Read More
Maria Belen Shapur and South Carolina governor already in hot water; e-mails don't help.
Following a long line of notable affairs—A-Rod and Madonna, Eliot Spitzer and an escort, and Jon and Kate's various trysts—South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford recently revealed he's been having an affair with a woman in Argentina.
Of course, this is after Gov. Sanford (previously only noteworthy for refusing Pres. Obama's stimulus funds) disappeared and then reappeared, claiming to have gone hiking on the Appalachian Trail. Unfortunately for the family-friendly governor, his cover story happened to highlight Naked Hiking Day. Man, some people just can't catch a break. Read: Why I Cheated
