Kenyan offers Hillary livestock dowry for her daughter.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in Africa this week for a seven-nation diplomatic tour, accepting congratulations on her husband's skill at charming tiny dictators, and fielding marriage proposals for her daughter, Chelsea. According to the Associated Press, a Kenyan man wrote to Bill Clinton in 2000 and offered him 40 goats and 20 cows for his only daughter's hand in marriage.
At a meeting today in Kenya, CNN's Fareed Zakaria asked Hillary if she'd considered the offer. The Secretary of State graciously replied that she would pass the unnamed Kenyan fellow's proposal along to … Read More
The National Enquirer claims to have inside info about old Clinton divorce papers.
We're usually loath to refer to anything that mentioned by the National Enquirer but they did knock that John Edwards thing into the cheap seats. But, per Celebitchy, the Natty Enquirkitor is saying that before her Senate run and subsequent presidential campaign c*m Secretary of State appeasement appointment, Hillary Clinton was ready to wash her hands of the Bill Clinton experience and get divorced.
The story goes that the then Mrs. Clinton (now Secretary Clinton), had a New York lawyer draw up the papers but decided against filing them. The papers supposedly accuse … Read More
"Wife wear" gets a makeover as powerful women ditch the power suit.
Not since the phrase "business casual" has there been such a commotion over what a woman wears to the boardroom. Just as we were getting used to the idea of a pantsuit, our male counterparts were kicking back in khaki pants and button-downs
Now the tables are turning again as flattering, affordable style replaces buttoned-up "wife wear."
"Powerful women no longer need to prove their strength by dressing shoulder to padded shoulder with men," exclaimed the New York Times recently when commenting on the types of outfits usually worn by first wives.
"Political wives in particular have had their … Read More
Andrew Cuomo has a Food Network girlfriend.
Nobody does it like Sandra Lee. Per Celebrity Mound, the Food Network starlet is dating Andrew Cuomo, the son of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo. The two were most recently seen out at Andrew Cuomo's 51st birthday party in NYC's South Street Seaport. The action was star-studded with Tony Bennett on hand. It seems like that guy can party, "I like things that are great."
Outside of being the scion of a powerful NY political family, Cuomo once married into the Kennedy family. He and Kerry Kennedy were married nearly 20 years ago but have subsequently split. … Read More

Has politics become a bigger seller than sex?
Our good friends over at the Huffington Post (or the HuffPo, as the kids call it) ran a story about the sexy-fication of American politics. Or more accurately, that the celebs are taking a backseat the politicians in some celeb-centric magazines. Or the politicians are celebrities and the celeb rags (People, Us Weekly, Time, et al) are starting to treat them as such. It's like John Mayer practically has to have sex with that Jennifer Aniston from the TV show Friends to even make mention in the tabloids these days.
Instead of seeing the minutia of the Read More
The Clinton lampooning has officially kicked into high gear.
It has been a tough friggin’ few weeks for Hillary Clinton. In hindsight, it’s really been a pretty tough couple of decades for this Wellesley College grad. And it’s looking more and more like she will not be the Democratic candidate for president. Unless something crazy happens (like 5 times as crazy as Rev. Wright), she’ll be back in the Senate and won’t be too upset if McCain wins the White House so she can run again in 2012. Anyway, in the vein of Sarah Silverman-Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel-Benaffleck, our homeys over at The Daily Bedpost tracked … Read More
Elizabeth Wurtzel spills about how feminism has taken on a new meaning.
Has today’s feminist movement really taken on a twisted connotation? There’s a stimulating and valid rant in The Los Angeles Times about how the original strengths and rights that women are striving to rightly claim have been blurred into obscurity.
Elizabeth Wurtzel, author of Prozac Nation states, “Because Silda Wall Spitzer is accomplished and beautiful, the whole scene [Spitzer scandal] serves as a grim reminder that even amazing women become sexually disposable after a certain age.”
She goes on to discuss how many of our most powerful companies have female CEOs, yet they still make 80 cents to a … Read More
Having a spouse who's a campaign staffer can hit a marriage hard.
For spouses married to presidential campaign staffers, the fight for the American Dream has never hit so close to home. Like a handful of other spouses, I have sacrificed over a year of my marriage for a campaign. Only I am the one needing the guts, while it seems my husband gets all the glory. I am the wife of a senior staffer on the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign.
For thirteen months, I have gone to sleep alone, watched TIVO fill up with programs he'll never have time to watch, and attended family events at my sons' schools as a … Read More
