And there could be another legal battle brewing between the two now that Spencer has announced plans to pen a tell-all book...

Heidi Montag filed for legal separation from her husband Spencer Pratt at the Santa Monica courthouse today. She did not, however, file for divorce. So what does this mean? Are they really done now? Was their supposedly-sham break up for reals? Not so fast. All a legal separation means is that Heidi's earnings will become her separate property — i.e., not Spencer's — from the date of separation.
Who would have thought that their split was a ploy for attention?
Well, that didn't take long. Us Weekly is reporting that somewhere — deep down in their underground evil lair, perhaps — Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are "laughing" at the world and "having a blast" at the idea that anyone would ever choose to believe that their coupledom was over.

This week's issue of Us Weekly chronicles the increasingly paranoid and crazy life led by Spencer and Heidi Pratt, as revealed on The Hills and in Spencer's would-be-funny-if-they-weren't-so-insane rants. So far, reports reveal that Heidi ate a scorpion and Spencer dined on a live stick. And here's a big shock—they've both thrown temper tantrums so big they threatened to leave the show.
