Online Dating and STDs

As someone who has been lucky (and careful) enough to never contract a sexually transmitted disease, I can’t begin to imagine the difficulty of having the “STD” talk with a potential partner. That’s why it would seem niche online dating sites for people with STDs would be a welcoming breath of fresh air. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, every year there are nearly 20 million new sexually transmitted infections in the United States.

Is Your Password Strong?

A very attractive single mom recently told me this story: She had met a man and felt sure he was the man of her dreams. There was a synchronicity about their meeting she could not ignore; the chemistry was electric and the sex, she said, was the best she had ever had—in her life, I might add. It had to be love, she gushed!

Date Like a Porn Star

We love dirty jokes, bragging to our friends about our sexual exploits and basking in the glow of our sexual prowess. But when we meet a new partner, most find it easier to open their legs than their lips. In 2012 honest open discussions between dating singles about sex is still repressed by puritanical norms and adolescent emotions.  Good girls don’t talk about it and good boys don’t ask.

Why We Chose Not To Circumcise Our Son

Before I gave birth to our first child six years ago, my husband and I discussed our son and the manner in which he would be raised at length. Remember You Don't Know Who Was There First!

It seems people are forgetting or allowing themselves to forget about safe sex and at best not knowing how to keep themselves safe during sex. Either they don't care or think they are invincible or they are too trusting of people they just meet. Which ever the case maybe people need to realize STD's are a real issue for a huge percentage of the country.

Risky Neighborhood, Risky Sex?

Where you live has everything to do with your sexual behavior, at least according to a recent study. If you're exposed to violence on a regular basis within your immediate surroundings, you are more likely to engage in risky sex.

Weird Sex News: Among Swedish Men, Chlamydia Is A Badge Of Honor

I recently read an article by an American living in Sweden. The single woman, who'd had more than a few romps with Swedish men, noted that Swedes are not only very much against condom use, but that some of them — even adult male Swedes in their 20s and 30s — don't even know how to put one on because condom use is so rare.

5 Ways The Affordable Care Act Ruling Affects Women's Health

Fans of healthcare reform can thank Nancy Pelosi's lucky lavender pumps for the Affordable Care Act being upheld today. They were the same shoes the U.S. House Minority Leader wore when President Barack Obama's healthcare reform law passed in 2010, and she wore them today when it was upheld as constitutional.
