The YourTango staff is like a well-oiled machine. We dutifully devour books on settling for Mr. Good Enough, edit essays and blog posts that bring you the love advice you're craving, and make sure the site both looks pretty and runs smoothly. Meanwhile, Celebrity Editor Claire Daniel does the tough, down-and-dirty work. Heading up a crack team of in-the-know bloggers, Claire keeps us up-to-date on celebrity love stories, heartbreaks and outright scandals on YourTango's Celeb Love blog.
With a staff as small as ours, it stands to reason that pretty much each one of us does the work of about 10 different people. It's no different with General Manager Tom Miller, who—on a constant high somehow unamplified by either caffeine or coke—makes us snort with his daily Tomfoolery posts, giving us just an eensy peep into the male mind; plays movie star in a good number of our web videos; and handles the day-to-day office-type stuff that the rest of us hate. Like, um, paying us so that we can buy new shoes. All that and he still manages to keep that hair of his looking perfect.
The other week, we introduced you to our founder and CEO, Andrea Miller. This week, we'd like to move along the masthead and spotlight our perpetually-cheery Community Director, Lyz Lenz. Unfortunately for us, she works remotely, in the far, far land that is Iowa. So we can't go to lunch together or swap friendship bracelets. Fortunately, she rocks the whole community thing, and is regularly in contact with you, dear readers, and quick to report back to us on the winningest community blog posts and trending topics.
You already know YourTango for its smart-silly-helpful content on love and relationships. You rely on Ask YourTango when you have a relationship conundrum. You wait with bated breath for our video content, which often features celebrated love experts. But what about the staff behind the site? Today, we introduce you to YourTango founder and CEO Andrea Miller.
Ah, love stories. The drama! The butterflies! The humor and heartache! Here at YourTango, we can't get enough of love and relationships (uh, clearly), but it's not often that we share our own tales of love. While writing "Love In The Time Of Twitter" about SMITH magazine's new book Six-Word Memoirs On Love & Heartbreak By Writers Famous & Obscure, I asked the YT team to contribute six-word love and relationship memoirs of their own.
Last Thursday, friends, advisors and staff of YourTango gathered to celebrate the site's continuing growth and thriving community—and break some of those pesky New Year's resolutions. Here are some highlights from the party, which included plenty of drinks, sweets and Cheez Whiz (which, evidently, did not follow grunge out of style in the '90s).
In 2009 we resolve to continue publishing awesome content that will make you guffaw, tear up, give you goose bumps and make you go "awww." And when we're not working (rarely!) we have personal lives, which occasionally involve relationships. Below, the YourTango staff's 2009 love and relationship New Year's resolutions.
