Go back to Are Your Sex Habits Normal?
Sex: what's normal? AOL Love & Sex Coach, Ian Kerner, addresses what's typical in bed.
I regularly watch porn.
Masturbation and self pleasure is a healthy expression of anyone's sexuality, but spending more time watching pornography and less time with your mate can leave you tuned out and turned off, says Kerner. As men reach their 30s and 40s, the refractory period, or time between erections, starts to widen. "So a guy who wants to let off some steam and enjoy an orgasm could be detracting from his desire to have sex," he says. Bottom line: if you have a good relationship and a good sex life, casual self-pleasuring shouldn't be a matter that needs to be pushed. Otherwise, you could end up ruining a perfectly healthy relationship.
Somewhat but I cant decern between normal and abnormal. To me: " What is Normal?"

There's only one thing that "shouldn't be", it's one or both in the couple being durably frustrated about how the sex goes in the relationship.
I don't think this article sets unrealistic standards or makes people frustrated. On the contrary I think it combats the unrealistic expectations set by books movies and hollywood stars talking about their "crazy" love lifes and lets people breath a little easier to know that not everyone is having more and better sex than them.
Normal is a relative term. If a married couple is only having sex once a week and they are happy with it then thats normal to them. Other married couples who have sex 3-5 times a week would not consider that normal at all.
But its important to talk about "normal" because often people feel pressure to live up to some sort of crazy ideal, when in truth the ideal is what works for you.
This was very helpful!
Sounds like someone had serious doubts...
AS NORMAL AS THE NEXT PERSON! JUST WISH I AHD TIME FOR MORE SEX!
Are my sex habits normal??? Gee... I don't get enough sex to call it a habit!!!
I was glad to see Kerner talking about issues of aging and masturbation for men. I was surprised and irritated, however, that he didn't seem to think women masturbate!
In an article on what is normal, you need to be sure to include women. One lovely thing about being a woman - you can masturbate as much as you want no matter how old you are and it won't decrease your ability to please your partner. It might even help you stay in sexual shape.
His comments on positions could have been improved, too. Some women like different positions in order to stimulate the various sweet spots inside their vagina.
