saying "we"

Published on November 8, 2012 by catomasko

Often my new man refers to places visited or events attended as what "we" did or saw. He is referring to his former wife. He has been divorced for a little over one year and I know he is really into me and would not do anything to hurt me, but once i jokingly said "we" do you have a frog in your pocket...should I say anything? It kinda bothers me. If I have been someplace or done something with someone else I always refer to "I" did this or that. What should I do if anything?

Men can be clueless and you have to spell it our for them. Jokes aren't clear enough. Your feelings matter, and they are reasonable. If you bottle things up, you'll end up exploding and making the situation worse than it needs to be. In a mellow way, tell him, "when you've say "we" went there, it makes me visualize you and your ex together at the place. Why would I want that image in my head when you and I are together now? I don't want to hear about her. I only want to hear about you." Good luck.
