My love life has been MIA for over a year - HOW do I take control and get back in the game?

My last real, official relationship was YEARS ago. I've dated people since then, but it's been over a year since I've even been on a date. I feel like I've tried everything except online dating - which I really don't want to do. I would rather meet a person naturally. I'm extremely personable - I never have trouble making friends and I am always smiling and having a good time whenever I go out - so why can't I meet anyone? It's really starting to bum me out. I feel unattractive and not good enough.

Why don't you want to try online dating? I was in exactly the same position as you: I wasn't meeting people on nights out, or at work, or in my circle of friends, and I was fed up never going out on dates, so I thought, why not? And I signed up to an online dating site. Seriously, I never felt so attractive, and I was suddenly going out on dates pretty much every week. Some of them led to something, most of them didn't, but that's life, and I met some incredible people that I wouldn't otherwise have met. In our increasingly socially disconnected society, online dating doesn't have the same stigma attached to it that it used to do (although I'll admit that it's not always easy to tell your friends how you met the great new person you're seeing: I just decided to brazen it out and dare anyone to make a joke!) and it's much less of a lottery than trying to find someone to connect to in a club or a party. Lots of online dating sites have introductory offers - what's the worst that could happen?
