How to start a long distance relationship?

Published on October 31, 2012 by ladyjane2178

I have a friend that I have known since junior high. We have always kept in touch sporadically through the years and have a very close bond. He lives in Seattle and I live in New York City.

About three years ago I visited him in Seattle and we ended up sleeping together once. We had not seen each other in years and he was in a bad relationship at the time. We never really talked about it much after that, but I thought about him a lot. We continued to keep in touch, but haven;t seen each other since.

Recently, we began talking a lot and both of us have expressed our feelings for each other. He even went so far as to say that there has never been a day that he hasn't thought about me since we met when we were 14. We are 35 now. I want to have the opportunity to see if something can come of us, but with the distance between us, it seems nearly impossible.

I feel in my heart that there is a true bond between us and there always has been. How do I let him know this and how do we go about starting any kind of relationship when there are 3,000 miles between us?
