How does one approach divorce with someone he has been with for many years?

Published on April 1, 2010 by p diddy

I've been married for 34 years, but i haven't been happy for most of it. I stayed to take care of the kids, my responsibilities. But I just can't pretend any longer. I'm dieing inside and terribly unhappy. how do I present this to her?

ANSWERS

Divorce is a process. You need to talk to her about how you feel and let her know what you want. There is no other way to do this but talk to her gently and honestly about the way you feel. And let her know that you want a divorce. For 34 years you've been hiding your emotions and not having open and honest communication. Oddly enough, now that you want a divorce, you have to be open and honest.
