How can I tell he wants more?

Published on July 7, 2010 by sox80

I was involved with a guy briefly about six months ago. It was nothing really serious, and he broke it off to pursue someone else. He mentioned he wanted to remain friends, but I took that with a grain of salt. About a month and a half after ending it, he started initating contact with me on a regular basis and tried flirting with me. At the time, I had recently started dating someone else. When I told him I was in a relationship, I thought he would back off, but he started coming on even stronger. When I broke off it with the other guy, he joked around about us starting a "friends with benefits" relationship. I agreed since I taking a break from dating, and I'm not interesting in pursuing something serious with him. When we agreed to hook up, I assumed it would just be a "wham-bam-thank-you ma'am" situation. It turned into spending the afternoon/evening together, and it felt more like a date. He has continued to initiate communication heavily before and after the encounter. He knows where I stand, but I can't help but feel like he's trying to get back with me, and its making me a bit nervous. I enjoy his company, but that's it right now.
