ANSWERS

Finding ways to nourish yourself and self-soothe are key to helping get your self-confidence back. Here are some ideas:

  1. Eat well. When we feel like crap, eating crap food only makes us feel worse in the long run. Sure sugar and processed food may make us feel better to begin with, but in the long run it only fuels a cycle of self-hate that leads to more overeating and unhealthy decisions. Decide that you are worth taking care of and nourish your body with healthy, nutritious foods. You'll feel better physically and emotionally.

  2. Exercise. I'm not talking about pounding it out in the gym for hours on end. Take a meditative walk every morning or do some gentle yoga. It boosts endorphins, is clinically shown to be AS EFFECTIVE as anti-depressants and reinforces the idea that you are worth taking care of.

  3. Do the things you love to do. When I'm feeling down or lonely I engage in things that I love doing and know will make me feel better. This is different for everyone. Sometimes for me it's a facial, sometimes it's meditation. Sometimes it's listening to music and singing at the top of my lungs! Have fun, put yourself first for a change and figure out what rituals make you most feel important and loved.

  4. Surround yourself with people who love you just the way you are.

  5. Remember- a person's opinion of you is just that, an opinion. It doesn't define you. It doesn't mean you are that person. You are who you choose to be. Realize that whatever this man did to you stems from his own issues that have nothing to do with you. Ask the universe that he be healed of whatever demons he has that caused him to treat you poorly and allow yourself to move on.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Taking care of yourself mind, body and soul is the best therapy. After exercising, you feel fantastic and less focused on body issues
