Best Friends or is there more...

Published on July 5, 2010 by dutchie08

My best friend and I have been best friends for about 20 years now. He's is the best thing that has ever happened to me. In November last year, I kind of spilled my guts to him in how much I like him, etc. At the time, he said it was a little awkward to hear that, but that wouldn't make him not talk to me anymore. He said his feelings might change, but at that point in time, he did not feel the same.

In March, we went to a concert together and he kept on saying how it was must have been fate and destiny that brought up to this show, because we originally weren't able to get tickets for the show.

Fast forward to now... He does pick on me a lot, which is normal, it's a good pick, don't worry, he also been sending some messages with smooch in it, which he never has done before, and some messages seem a little flirty.

I asked him a few weeks back if maybe his feelings towards me have changed since November. It was killing me not knowing, so I had to ask. His response was that he loves me very much, but sees us just remaining as best friends and that he doesn't see us in a relationship.

Am I reading too much into this? I'm so confused! Should I just suck it up and just realise that having him as a best friend is the only thing that will ever happen between the two of us?

HELP!!!

ANSWERS

He might be being flirty because you shared your feelings. He's probably flattered, who wouldn't be?

But if he's still telling you he wants to be friends, that's that. If the flirty behavior bothers or confused you, ask him to stop and don't do anything flirty back.

It's not fair of him of to play with your emotions by being flirty and then telling you he only wants to be friends. He should know better.
