I need the perfect gift?

I just recently started hanging out with this guy, nothing too serious now we are not even really dating. I like him a lot things are complicated though. He has met my parents already and the other day informs me he bought me a valentines day present. I was planning on maybe getting him a card or something? .. but I'm stumped. I want to get him something more than a card but i don't want to freak him out and scare him away if i get something too pricey?? HELP!

A few ideas:
- a new CD - or you could make a mix CD of songs you like and think he would too
- a board game the two of you can play together (could be cheesy, like Scrabble)
- you could plan a nice surprise date for the two of you for a future time (something new for both of you, like a trip to the zoo or a museum or tickets for a concert you both would like)
- you could make him or buy him a silly tee shirt from zazzle.com - I think their speedy shipping would still get here on time
- does his video game system need any new remotes or controllers?
- a couples massage might be fun to try - and the money wouldn't seem too pricey since you are getting the massage too

If you have idea about things he likes (computers, video games, books, etc) then get him a gift card. Guys really don't expect much on Valentine's Day, and while I kinda loathe giving out gift cards I don't mind getting them, especially when the person who gives it to me may not have a clear idea as to what I want.

If you really like him a lot, though, then why not try to step things up to a more permanent situation, like having a definite relationship?
