I like the Rabbi Shmuley Boteach a lot. He has a book called Dating Secrets of the Ten Commandments. He talks a lot about how to date seriously (not casually). He believes in not having sex before marriage. He's also quite funny.

I would think the way to keep the relationship strong wouldn't be that different. Treat each other well, listen to each other, spend time together. The trick would be probably not spending a lot of time completely alone - so maybe go out for coffee just the two of you, but don't hang out in her dorm room.
