Golden Globe Actors' Love Lives
by Sarah Harrison

How much do you know about the love lives of this year's Golden Globe nominees? YourTango gives you the inside scoop on each actor's LoveStage.

Leonardo Dicaprio, Revolutionary Road
LoveStage: Taken (Sort of)
The 34-year-old actor dated model Gisele Bundchen from 2001 to 2005 and is currently off-again [1]-on-again [2] dating another fashion plate, 23-year-old Bar Rafaeli. It's unclear if Dicaprio will wed Rafaeli, but the actor is looking forward to getting married.

"A lot of my friends are getting married and having children," he has said [3]. "I see it all around me and I think things have to naturally take their course. But every friend of mine who has children says the same thing—it's the greatest thing in the world. So it's something I'm looking forward to. So much of my life has been spent on some far-off movie location and so little of it has been lived normally. I want to get married and have children."

Frank Langella, Frost/Nixon
LoveStage: Divorced
Langella married House Beautiful editor Ruth Weil in 1977. The couple had two children before divorcing in 1996. Post-breakup, Langella dated Whoopi Goldberg for five years. Langella prefers to keep his personal life out of the public eye. "It's very comfortable for me that, when you're watching Frost/Nixon, you don't know me, as an actor, as anyone except Richard Nixon. Or Dracula, or even Perry White [in 2006's "Superman Returns"]. And that's why I prefer to stay off of the talk shows. I'm not a celebrity, and I don't want to be," he told USA Today [4].

Back in 1979 he told Playboy magazine [5], "I'd always felt a man should marry later in life. Actually I didn't expect to marry until I was into my 40's. So, I married earlier than I'd planned to—at 37. But I didn't marry until I wanted to."

Sean Penn, Milk
LoveStage: Married
Penn was married to Madonna, who has famously called him "the love of her life." They divorced in 1989, and in 1991 he had his first child with Robin Wright. They had a second child in 1993, and married in 1996. At the end of 2007 the couple announced they were splitting up but—Sienna Miller rumors [6] notwithstanding—by April of 2008 they'd reconciled, and remain married. Penn's thing for singers never went away though; he dated Jewel in the mid-90s during a separation from Wright. "Marriage ain't easy, but it's great most of the time," Penn told Entertainment Weekly in 1997. "I love Robin. I've always loved her."

Brad Pitt, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
LoveStage: Taken
Brad Pitt, half of an incredibly photogenic mega-couple, has six kids with partner Angelina Jolie: three biological (Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne) and three adopted (Maddox, Zahara and Pax). While Pitt told Esquire in 2006 that he and Angelina would only wed when gays were also allowed to marry, he recently told Ann Curry [7] of the Today show, that they would marry if their children wanted them to. "If we feel it's important to our kids, we will do so," he said.

In the December 12, 2008 issue of Rolling Stone he reveals that he fell for Angelina during the filming of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, when Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. When asked why Mr. And Mrs. Smith is his favorite of Jolie's films Pitt answered [8], "Because you know... six kids. Because I fell in love."

Mickey Rourke, The Wrestler
LoveStage: Divorced
Rourke has been married and divorced twice, first to actress Debra Feuer whom he divorced in 1989. In 1992 he married Carré Otis, whom he met on the set of Wild Orchid, where, it was rumored, their sex scene was more than simulated. They divorced in 1998.

"For 12 years I was alone, I had lost everything," Rourke told the New York Times [9] in November, 2008. "The three people closest to me — my brother, my grandmother and my ex-wife — were no longer there. I had no real friends. I saw a few girls, Russian strippers mostly, but I wasn’t looking for a girlfriend. My wife’s name was tattooed on my arm. She was the love of my life.

"I was quite shocked to learn that I was O.K. with being alone. I still am today… The only problem is, who do I share the good things happening to me with? My dogs, I guess."
