'Female Viagra' Clinical Trials Underway At The University Of Virginia
by Tom Miller

Female Viagra Trial [1]

The University of Virginia is performing clinical trials on a substance called LibiGel. This product is supposed to be the female Viagra and is a testosterone-based topical solution. The point of the drug is to ease a condition called hypoactive sexual desire disorder. According to some figures, one-third of American women have this condition. We mentioned in a Dish on August 15th [2] that a testosterone patch was recently tested on post-menopausal women with some pretty positive results. LibiGel appears to be carrying on that good work. We’re assuming that the name LibiGel is an amalgamation of ‘libido’ and ‘gelatin.’

We’re a little surprised that this research is going on at UVA. Those guys seem a little uptight. We’re pretty sure that before any research project is given a green light, the researchers have to type up a pitch about whether or not Thomas Jefferson (TJ) would approve of the project. Our guess is that something sex-related would be a given a thumbs up by TJ.

We owe it to TJ to end hypoactive sexual desire disorder in our lifetimes. We just wish that the answer wasn’t always a testosterone boost. There’s something unwholesome about trying to get a lady fired up about sex using testosterone. It would be great if they made some headway on the promising research we mentioned on April 30th [3], about a pill that increases sexual appetite AND stimulates weight loss (and it’s not the yayo, Frank).
