There's no question that breaking up with someone that you thought you were going to be with for a long time can be really hard to handle. Having to face the constant struggle of moving on even though you can't stop thinking about him is seriously the worst. Nothing can ever prepare you for waking up in the morning, only to notice that he's not where he's supposed to be. If you've ever had to go through this feeling of being lost, know that you're not alone.

Hearing relationship coach Dr. Amy Johnson talk about how to tell when it's time to move on and the steps you should take to do so makes us feel like she really gets it. Moving on after a breakup is so hard, but thinking about your life as if it's a play with a rotating cast of characters can make dealing with the heartbreak easier. But it's important to remember that letting go doesn't happen overnight. Give yourself time to be sad and to recover. You just have to learn how to put the past behind you; there will come a ay where you'll be able to get the closure that you need.
