Dating is hard enough. Add an eating disorder into the mix, and it only gets doubly complicated. In this video, Relationship Expert Janie Lacy offers advice to someone struggling with bulimia who is afraid that her secret eating disorder will stand in the way of her love life.

"Whenever there is an eating disorder, there usually is a problem with managing emotions," Janie says. So, first and foremost, professional help is in order. Therapy can help you learn what fuels your eating disorder in order that you may begin to overcome it.

Relationships require us to confront all kinds of emotions, Janie explains. Therefore, someone with an eating disorder should really get to the bottom of her own problem before attempting intimacy with another.
