Meeting Needs with NVC

Meeting Needs with NVC

Learn how to communicate with compassion using the principles of Nonviolent Communication.

There’s no one on the planet who hasn’t been in a situation wherein tempers and/or emotions escalated – perhaps even dramatically – due to miscommunication or poor communication. When this has happened in your own life, you’ve likely looked back on it afterwards and wondered how things got so out of control. You might even have tried to determine who was to blame fr the bad communication , or perhaps you ended up pursuing avenues of explanation that resulted in self-doubt or justifications for the communication mishap and resulting behavior.

Attitudes that Don't Foster Success

Attitudes that Don't Foster Success

Implement success mantras to boost your self-confidence and get on the road to achieving your goals.

Success is attainable for those who seek it with both their thoughts and their actions. Unfortunately, people tend to give significantly more attention to their actions, not remembering that their thoughts and attitudes can dramatically impact their failure and success. Too often the negative messages we hear while we’re growing up and our overall conditioning further contribute to anti-success attitudes. For example, you likely have a negative attitude toward success if you repeatedly encountered the following types of messages while growing up:

Finding the Perfect Diet Plan

Learn how to transform your "diet" into a more effective "fuel plan" to fuel your body.

Learn how to transform your "diet" into a more effective "fuel plan" to fuel your body. I can hear you murmuring through the Internet already, even though you’ve read only the title of this piece. “The best laid plans…” you’re murmuring to yourself. Or perhaps you’re thinking, “There’s no such thing as a ‘perfect’ diet plan!” But some of you are saying to yourself, “Really? There’s something that can work for most everyone?”

Facing Guilt in Your Past

Facing Guilt in Your Past

Discover visualization and self-hypnosis exercises to abolish the guilt and recover from the shame.

Ridding Yourself of Shame from Your Past It’s only human to make mistakes, and we all have done things of which we’re not proud. Although time can blur the memory and alleviate the pain of stressful incidents from our past, often it’s not a simple task to overcome the guilt that stems from actions in our past. This could be something as relatively innocuous as telling a small lie or as profound and life-changing as cheating on someone in a romantic relationship.

Tarot: How to Interpret the Fool

Tarot: How to Interpret the Fool

Learn to trust your intuition with The Fool card in Tarot for the most accurate interpretation.

The Fool is the first card of the Tarot deck and probably the most controversial of all. In the Rider Waite deck (the most popular amongst beginners), The Fool depicts a traveler dressed in colorful (almost clown-like) clothes standing at the edge of the cliff with his eyes closed. He holds a rose in one hand and a small sack filled with all his possessions in the other. He has a blissful and calm expression on his face and is accompanied by a tiny dog.

Measuring Motivation

Measuring Motivation

Measure your level of motivation to determine your potential for success in achieving your goals.

When it comes to finding motivation to achieve our goals, there are some of us who just naturally have it—and then there are others who struggle to locate and embrace it. As a person who is always highly motivated, I do find there are certain days when I wonder to where my motivation has disappeared. It's on these days I question if there is a way to actually measure my motivation levels in comparison to others days, outside of knowing I feel more or less motivated.

Earth Day 2011 and Questions that Arise

Earth Day 2011 and Questions that Arise

Learn how to determine how you can apply Earth Day principles to your life every day instead of once

All over the US and Canada there are millions of people celebrating Earth Day, and I often wonder what this day really means to people. For me Earth Day is a reminder to be kind to Mother Earth and remember that as much as we have renewable resources, it doesn’t mean we have unlimited resources.

Crystal Healing Pendants

Crystal Healing Pendants

Want to measure and control the flow of electromagnetic energy around your body? Here's how.

Crystal healing pendants can help you measure the flow of electromagnetic energy around the body. Healers often use crystal pendants to detect energy blocks in the chakras. The movement of the pendulum indicates whether or not a chakra is functioning properly. In a typical crystal healing session the therapist or healer holds the pendulum over each chakra point, and the flow of energy through that chakra causes the pendant to swing.

Powerful Questions

Powerful Questions

Learn how rephrasing to create empowering questions can help you gain clarity.

When we journey through life in a state of consciousness that is more awake and more aware, we begin to see the power behind the questions we ask. When we are able to ask not just the right questions but powerful questions, we open ourselves to achieving greater results and success. I remember before becoming a mother how I would chuckle at friends who would get caught in circular conversations with their toddlers: you know, the “But why?” to every answer they provided. As I have become more aware, I realized the power behind the toddler’s intention.

A Teacher’s Philosophy

A Teacher’s Philosophy

Identify and be open to functioning as both a student and a teacher to gain greater self-awareness

Part of my own personal philosophy is that we carry the energy of both “student” and “teacher” within us, and depending on the experience or situation in which we find ourselves, one of these two energies becomes primary. We invoke our inner teacher when we have the need to pass along our knowledge, wisdom or a gold nugget to another; and when it is our time to listen, learn and embrace new information, our student self steps forward.
