From USA Today SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Opponents of Oregon's new same-sex domestic partnership law failed to turn in enough valid signatures to block the measure, clearing the way for it to take effect next year, state elections officials said Monday. Oregon will join eight other states that have approved spousal rights in some form for gay couples — Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Maine, California, Washington and Hawaii. Massachusetts is the only state that allows gay couples to marry. The Oregon measure covers benefits related to inheritance rights, child-rearing and custody, joint state tax filings, joint health, auto and homeowners insurance policies, visitation rights at hospitals and others. It does not affect federal benefits for married couples, including Social Security and joint filing of federal tax returns. Tango’s Take

From SanLuisObispo.com By Judy Light Hopson, Emma H. Hopson, RN , and Ted Hagen, PhD Do you ever question the love in your marriage? Do you ever feel that your children or friends don't really love you? Worrying about love is something all of us do from time to time. We can feel hurt and rejected when something goes wrong in a relationship. We might ask, "Do I have anyone who deeply cares about me?" From The New York Times By Kelefa Sanneh “This is my first concert tour ever,” Jennifer Lopez said, addressing an audience more inclined to hear that confession as good news than as a bad omen. She has released a half dozen albums — the latest, “Brave” (Epic), arrives in shops today — and scored a handful of hits, but she has never before taken her show on the road. Maybe she couldn’t stop tinkering with the set list. Maybe she thought it immodest to flaunt all her abilities at once. Or maybe she was just searching for the right opening act. And now she has found one: her husband, Marc Anthony. On Sunday night at Madison Square Garden his electrifying salsa set was merely the prelude for her pop extravaganza. And did they end the night by performing together, by drawing close and embracing? Well, if they hadn’t, more than a few of the people clutching $250 tickets would probably have demanded a refund. This past weekend, my finance and I went to the jewelry store to pick out our wedding bands. We walked into the Michael C. Fina on 5th Avenue. Initially the store can be intimidating. All the sales people are dressed in black suits, the floors are marble and they reverberate that sound of each footstep taken, and the jewelry cases are positioned in a way that makes it impossible to gawk under the guise of browsing.
