Grindr, the iPhone app with "gaydar," is hoping to take its success to the mainstream dating scene.
If you have gay male friends, you've probably heard them mention Grindr at least once, if not a thousand times. For those of you not familiar with the app, it uses GPS technology to track other gay men in your vicinity available for "meetups." According to one of my single gay friends, this app has "revolutionized his dating life." Another calls it "a slutty hookup heaven." Soon, we'll be able to draw our own conclusions. This week, the company is launching a version of the app for heteros called Project Amicus.
Kissing is fun. But why do people act like it's such a big deal when two girls are doing it?
Don't get us wrong. We like kissing. We like it a lot. And we want everyone who enjoys kissing to be able to kiss whomever they want (as long as it's all consensual, of course). But here's where we've had it: girl-on-girl kissing. Not the kissing itself. But the ridiculous hullabaloo that erupts around it. What's the big deal? Why do people care? And why do straight female celebrities (yes, you, Megan Fox and Katy Perry) keep making such a big deal out of the fact that they've done it?
That cheating husband of yours actually may not be heeding the call of his "little brain" and instead heeding the call of his "big" one: Swedish scientists found that heterosexual men with two copies of a gene variant (called an allele) were twice as likely to report marital problems.
Women married to men with one or two copies of the allele also reported being less satisfied in their marriages, especially in regards to the couple's intimacy and ability to connect. The Washington Post calls the study "the first time that science has shown a direct link between a man's genes and his aptitude for monogamy. "
The Singaporean legislature has legalized certain once-illicit sex acts... for heterosexuals. In a country with legalized prostitution, consenting straights can now engage in oral and anal sex. Many are upset that the ruling did not cross over the the island nation's homosexual population.
