As more and more people are discovering, massage therapy and healing touch therapies are proving to be extremely good medicine for treating those with chronic diseases such as cancer, osteoporosis, depression, and even circulatory disorders. There are several good reasons for this, such as the fact that massage therapy helps move lymph fluid around the body and oxygenate organs and tissues. Plus, there’s probably something healthy going on in the fact that human touch is taking place.
You've heard the saying, "Beauty is more than skin deep." And you probably know someone who is not physically beautiful but who turns heads wherever she goes. Someone who's a magnet for friends and admirers. What does she have that you don't have? Nothing essential. But she knows how to embody her essence, how to reveal her essence. Maybe she doesn't even know she's doing it – but she is, and that's why people are so attracted to her.
Valentine's Day is coming, like it does every year! A day that leaves some singles singin’ the blues while others go about their day pretending like it doesn’t even exist. It’s a day that some relish and others despise. All in all, Valentine’s Day sets the expectation that your relationship status defines who you are. I would encourage you to be mindful that you are not defined by your relationship status, it's certainly not your identity. As you read this article, I hope to impart a more open and positive way to embrace Valentine’s Day with grace and ease.
A skit on Saturday Night Live about twenty years ago depicted a man and woman standing outside of a 'therapist's' office. One actor asks the other if this is his office. He answers ‘Yes” and she slaps him across the face. He acknowledged being 'TheRapist'.
Recently I was pondering the various new age and metaphysical groups, practices, and in particular the various leaders and the styles of leadership they provide. While there are many fine teachers and healers in this broad category we call new age, there are some I’ve seen or been around that trigger an uneasy feeling in my gut.
Breaking up is hard enough, but when there's another woman involved, it's doubly difficult. It doesn't matter if she is drop dead beautiful or looks like moldy cheese; either way feels like someone stuck a knife in your back. It's particularly hard to overcome the heartbreak when another woman comes into the picture because you feel out of control. Any chance you might have had to work things out with him seems to vanish because he now has this new woman in his life. Your shaken ego will desperately try to repair it's hurt pride by urging you to find out why this happened — as if finding an explanation could make you feel better. You'll scrutinize his feelings and begin to assume all kinds of reasons why he picked her over you. This won't fix your heartbreak. This will only end up with you blaming yourself up for lacking something that she must have.
Perhaps we've all had an intimate partner who has said or done things to us that seem simply unforgivable. Can you remember a circumstance where you spoke hurtful or hateful words, and later recognized that you did not really mean them? The context of your life affected the content of what you said. Maybe you were tired, afraid, angry, stressed, or feeling hurt. In that moment you just had to defend yourself, get some space, work through anxiety, or vent some frustration.
Goin' Through The Big D. That was the title and chorus of a song I loved in high school ... nice country twang, good lyrics and a toe-tappin' beat made it easy to dance to and listen loud as I drove through my hometown. I thought it was a fun song and a good, lighthearted way to talk about divorce. Of course, that was until I went through 'the big D' myself. Suddenly, it wasn't so funny.

“It takes a really big man to love a really big scar.” –Carly Simon I worked for nine years in Lubbock, Texas as an intimacy and sex counselor for cancer patients. They taught me more than any textbook or class. I celebrated their success with them, prayed for their healing with them, and sat by their bedside with their loved one when they took their last breaths. Many people would call that a depressing job, but I never lived as fully as when I worked with this population.

Crystal healing pendants can help you measure the flow of electromagnetic energy around the body. Healers often use crystal pendants to detect energy blocks in the chakras. The movement of the pendulum indicates whether or not a chakra is functioning properly. In a typical crystal healing session the therapist or healer holds the pendulum over each chakra point, and the flow of energy through that chakra causes the pendant to swing.

In the past week, I was blessed with information that brought incredible healing and love to my meditation students at Equinox Fitness. I want to share this with you, since it was, and is, such a powerful meditation. You can record it for yourself, or do it with friends with one person reading the meditation:
A Surprising Fix Kathleen and Bob, a couple in their mid 30's with children, had been seeing me for only 3 sessions when a homework assignment I gave them dramatically improved the energy between them and led to their facing each other excitedly in the 3rd session, each eagerly seeking the other.
I had a sensory overload last night – of the welcomed kind. The TSO (Trans-Siberian Orchestra) entertained me, enthralled me, and saturated every cell of my body with their holiday extravaganza. The rapturous music was accompanied by dazzling lights, psychedelic lasers, fog, and fire (the real, hot kind). Mother Nature must have been there, as we were sprinkled with snow flakes – the kind big enough to catch and feel a second of cold before the thaw. The kid in me wanted to stick out my tongue and run through the aisles catching every one.
