It’s the holiday season, but maybe gratitude is the last thing you’re feeling. Maybe you or your family is going through a really rough time right now, like the aftermath of Newton, Hurricane Sandy or other tragedy. Maybe you’re alone, or even more ironic, feeling lonely in the middle of family and friends.
If you have suffered a tragedy this year—a loss of employment, loss of your home, a divorce or even a death—you may not feel as if there is much to celebrate or to give thanks for this holiday season. However, I respectfully disagree! This is exactly the time to give thanks.
The controversy surrounding whether or not a person suffers from a sexual addiction will continue for a long time. The inclusion of hypersexual disorder in the DSM-5 will not diagnose everyone with a sexual problem, as many fear, but it will give legitimacy to the problem and allow people to get help.

I am going to share with you my thoughts on getting over divorce and dating after divorce. As my mentor, T. Harv Eker says, "Don't believe anything I say". And why is that? Because I can only speak from my experience. Nothing I am going to say here is right or wrong, true or false. However, I believe my experience can help you. After spending the majority of my adult life either dating or married to this man, and having two children with him, we divorced. The specifics of why are not important.
Many women think they have sexual dysfunction when actually there is nothing wrong with them. They may have high expectations of how a woman should be during sex, which may have come from highly unrealistic literature or from the erroneous theory of vaginal versus clitoral orgasm (for more on this see Sarita's article on Great Sex for Women).
Out of respect to the families who were affected by the Aurora, Colorado shooting, I challenge each of us to dig deep into our souls and share our compassion with these families. Across the globe, we are all deeply affected by this senseless loss of life and its tragic aftermath. How can we make sense of something that doesn't make sense? How can we move forward knowing even a movie theater is not a safe place? The Dark Knight Rises is a great example of the mythic hero's journey. The hero's journey is one way to develop your inner strength. You can't attain inner strength by depending on others; you can see others as mentors, but the task or call is yours to figure out. "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink" is the motto for good mentors.
The fact of the matter is, it’s ok to feel bad after a break up. Especially if you have been together for a long time. You have shared everything from checking accounts to the same tastes in DVR recordings. You have to allow yourself time to heal. Whatever reason the break up occurred , whether it was one sided or not, you are left with half an empty closet where before you didn’t have enough space for your “too many shoes.” That extra set of dishes you kept in
Going through a divorce can be similar to experiencing the death of a loved one. Sometimes it is quick and sudden or slow and gradual. In any case, the person you dreamed about growing old with is no longer a part of your everyday life. This is a huge loss no matter how dysfunctional the relationship was. Not only have you lost your life companion, but your sense of security, financial stability, parenting partner, and much more.
Just like a rose, life is beautiful, but can also be dangerous. The smell and beauty of the rose compells me to "stop and smell the roses". Pardon my pun. The rose is life, living it's authentic self in each moment. Wow, now that is what life is all about. Staying planted where you are and becoming all you were meant to be.
The 3 Steps to feeling better, healing faster and being more effective in life are: 1) Relaxing 2) Recharging 3) Refocusing I know "It sounds too good to be true," but relaxing, recharging and refocusing your attention for 5 minutes or less at a time, throughout your day on a daily basis will help you feel better, heal faster and generally be more effective in life.
Stand by the MOYD–show yourself approved and leave no doubts that you are the one. When your man, or prospective man, is down on his luck, this is an opportune time to strike; to have his back and show him who you really are. Show him what the “S” on your chest stands for.
Do you and your family have health insurance? The U.S. Supreme Court will soon decree whether the U.S. Government is allowed to force you to buy health insurance. Whether you like the notion of forcing everyone to buy it or not, the first question to ask is: What is "health insurance"? As defined by the Supreme Court and the Government and most people nowadays, "health insurance" is the act of paying a monthly fee in order that any services or products you obtain from the medical industry will be paid for (wholly or partly) by people other than you.
We all know what it feels like to feel hurt, betrayed, or abandoned. We learn these painful lessons early in life and continue to feel our wounds reopen every now and then as we move through adulthood. Being vulnerable requires risk. There is no way to experience profound love and intimacy without risking your heart. Sometimes the risk pays off and sometimes it doesn’t. So the question is not if we’ll ever have a broken heart, the question is when. It’s simply a part of life.
It was 1998 when Lindsay Lohan first hit the big screen in The Parent Trap. With a fresh freckled face, quick wit and a surprisingly clear focus, long term success seemed inevitable for her. Growing up before our eyes, Lindsay's likable looks and down to earth charm made her the girl next door that countless others could relate to. However, with a mounting movie career, little parental supervision and unlimited funds at her fingertips, she slipped from promising professional to proficient party girl.
I finally succumbed. I watched the Kony 2012 video. I did not want to watch yet another video clip on the atrocities in Africa. It is so painful and deeply upsetting to watch the awful realities of the world - and not be able to do anything about them.
